TAKA Opens in Shepherd Market

It was in the mid-eighteenth century that a Mr Edward Shepherd was asked to the develop site that Shepherd Market sits on today. Part of the area where the rowdy May Fair which took place each year, (hence the name Mayfair, not quite such a glamorous beginning) when it was completed it featured a duck pond, a two storey market and a theatre. It soon grew into an eclectic mix of restaurants, pubs and boutiques all running along paved alleyways and whilst the theatre and pond might have gone, the restaurants remain and next month will see the opening of […]

Elvis On Tour The Exhibition

Elvis is alive! He also loved eating squirrel, was a black belt in Karate and owned the first VCR in America. Some of those statements are true but we’ll leave it up to you to decide on which ones. What is definitely true is that Elvis is touring again! Well the memory of him at least as Elvis On Tour The Exhibition opens at The O2 on 3rd November, marking 40 years since Elvis’ (supposed) death. The O2’s previous Elvis exhibition in 2014 and 2015 was so popular that over 200,000 people visited to see a real glimpse into the […]

Flesh & Buns: Covent Garden’s Hidden Bao Den

What:  A secret, Covent Garden den of meat and steamed buns, Flesh & Buns was opened by Ross Shonhan as part of the Bones Daddies Collection, bringing London a taste of the Izakaya – the Japanese pub culture. New: Flesh & Buns originally opened back in 2013, specialising in gua bao – those sticky, fluffy Taiwanese buns we all can’t get enough of, long before the craze really took over us, in comparison, Bao didn’t open their first permanent site until 2015. Now four years later they’ve had a temporary closure this July whilst they update the restaurant. Where:  41 Earlham Street, […]

We Review Kensington’s Most Charming Restaurant

What? Tucked away behind Kensington High Street sits Maggie Jones, a charming British restaurant which has character in bucket loads and if it was personified would be an eccentric old Englishman. Its sister restaurant, however, is La Poule au Pot, Ebury Street’s French restaurant. New? Certainly not, it’s done what many restaurants have not been able to achieve and has been open for over half a century. It opened back in 1964 as Nan’s Kitchen and was a favourite haunt of Princess Margaret and Lord Snowden, who would book under the alias of Maggie Jones. It then changed its name in the […]

The Pilgrm: Paddington’s New Hotel

Continuing the year of the hotel, this autumn will see the opening of The Pilgrm (yes, it is spelled that way, that’s not just us making a continuous mistake) a new hotel opening in Paddington’s Norfolk Square. The work of Jason Catifeoglou (myhotels group, IHG, The Zetter, Grain Store & The Zetter Townhouses), Andreas Thrasyvoulou (myhotels group) and Steph Thrasyvoulou, the 73-bedroom hotel is said to be a reinterpretation of the traditional hotel (could be why they chose the edgy spelling). You’ll check in online before you’ve arrived so you won’t find a reception desk, instead you’ll find a ground […]

Awesome Afternoon Teas

New Bottomless Afternoon Tea

This week is National Afternoon Tea week – aka a chance for the great debate of jam or cream first to be argued ad infinitum and a good excuse to eat as many scones (however you have them) as humanly possible. Amongst the afternoon tea activities is the launch of Timmy Green’s bottomless pop art tea inspired by the legendary artist, Peter Blake. You might not have heard of Peter Blake, but you will recognise his work, he’s the man behind the Beatles’ Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band album cover and this year marks its 50th anniversary. Served on […]

It’s unlikely you’ve ever been to a pharmacy for fun, (we say unlikely because we’re not going to judge), no your usual trips probably involve prescriptions and mystery rashes. That was until now. Upon entering the 1920’s pharmacy, you’ll meet the legendary pharmacist, before making your way to the […]
