Neil Rankin Opens temper City

Last November London was introduced to temper Soho and it’s safe to say, we welcomed it with opened arms – it’s been hugely successful, so now Neil Rankin is back with temper City and we’re predicting equally big things. Fire and wine will still be at the core, with meat (which is butchered on site) being cooked low and slow over oak and charcoal, but this time the menu will be all about curries from different countries. There’ll be mutton rolls and laksa lamb belly stovies to start; lamb scotch bonnet vindaloo; dry goat; meatball marrow masala; Dashi chip shop […]

Steaks and Wine at Gaucho Broadgate

What?  As Gaucho say, for them, it’s all about the beef and Gaucho Broadgate makes up one of the fifteen restaurants in the group across the UK -twelve of which are in London, the others are in Manchester, Leeds and Birmingham. New? Nope, it opened back in 2010. Where? 5 Finsbury Avenue, Broadgate, EC2M 2PG www.gauchorestaurants.com On the Menu: Of course, the main event is the beef, but it’s not all they have to offer and whilst it would be sacrilege to not have steak there are other dishes. Starters include the likes of Lomo carpaccio with baby kale, pine […]

rhubarb launch Virtuous Vs Indulgence menu at Goodwood

For those planning on a day at the races, Goodwood’s official food partner, rhubarb, has launched two new menus, because of course, races aren’t just about the racing, they’re about the food too…well we like to think so. Available in their private boxes, the menus are exact opposites of each other. Depending on how you feel you can choose to either be virtuous or indulgent and the choice isn’t easy. Perfect for when the hot weather has you craving something lighter, the virtuous menu begins with kale and ginger shots and canapes such as yellow fin tuna tartare, smashed avocado […]

London’s Getting an Espresso Martini Festival

Back in the 80s a patron of Brasserie Soho, went to the bar and said that they wanted a drink that was going to wake them and then f**K them up. The man behind the bar was the legendary barman Dick Bradsell and he only went and created one of the most legendary cocktails – a combination of two of our favourites things (coffee + alcohol), the espresso martini. Dick Bradsell and whoever the drinker was, we thank you. London loves an espresso martini, so much so that next month London is getting its first espresso martini festival. Mr Black […]

Boisdale Launch Jamaican Garden Terrace

There seems to be no stopping Jamaican cuisine recently. Following a couple of major restaurant openings in central London, now Boisdale’s of Canary Wharf is serving the food of Jamaica on their terrace throughout the summer. The pop-up is in partnership with the Jamaican Tourist Board, and is seen as so important it was launched by the Jamaican High Commissioner this week. Boisdale of Canary wharf is traditionally a British restaurant with a good menu of steaks and seafood, yet it’s all change for the terrace this summer. Try a dish from a range of contemporary Jamaican dishes, or play […]

Swan, Shakespeare’s Globe Review: What We Thought

What? Contemporary seasonal British cooking with riverside views. The venue is connected to Shakespeare’s Globe and a proportion of revenue goes to the Shakespeare’s Globe Trust, which helps to promote the experience of Shakespeare in performance. New? Swan has held a decade-long partnership with Shakespeare’s Globe but March saw the appointment of Allan Pickett (of critically acclaimed Piquet) as Executive Chef and an extensive refurbishment to elevate the restaurant into a new era. Where? Swan, Shakespeare’s Globe, 21 New Globe Walk, Bankside, SE1 9DT www.swanlondon.co.uk On the Menu: Allan has brought a taste of his classical French training and use of strong British ingredients south […]

Harry Potter Supper Club

Harry Potter recently has celebrated their 20 year anniversary, which coincidently marks 20 years of us waiting for our Hogwarts acceptance letter. Whilst we still blame Mr Dursley for hiding it, how about we present you with an invitation to the next best thing? A Harry Potter inspired dinner series. The sorting hat has spoken and chosen the best selection of Harry Potter themed food and drink (yes, there is butter beer). And what is anything Harry Potter themed without puns? The seven course dinner is complete with them too. This includes a Hogwarts Letter Amuse Bouche, an edible rice […]
