The London Royal Tea

As we all know afternoon tea is a very British tradition, all thanks to the Duchess of Bedford being rather peckish between meals and Hotel Café Royal is launching The London Royal Tea on the 14th September which will be a celebration of both London and British history. Served in the iconic Oscar Wilde Bar, the afternoon tea service will begin with a bell being rung to signal the start of service which harks back to the 1800s when the muffin men would ring their bells to say the muffins were ready, that is until 1839 when it was prohibited. Meet the Makers at Selfridges

Selfridges have an exciting and unusual programme of events on until October focused on bridging the gap between maker and consumer. Because we all love food, but do we know where it comes from? The Laslett Hotel Opens in Notting Hill

We all have one of those friends who give us house envy. Everything looks as if it is from Etsy or Pinterest, every corner could be on Instagram. Whilst they manage to make their car boot, charity shop find look like a valuable antique, we make it look like we’re hoarders of junk. Well now rather than trying to move into your friend’s house you can just stay at the Laslett Hotel opening in Notting Hill today. Part of the Living Rooms collection, the hotel is named after Rhaune Laslett, a local community activist and organiser of Notting Hill Festival […]

Mother Clucker pop-up

What exactly is it about street food that makes us so obsessed? All we know is that it won’t be diminishing any time soon. Leaving their Cluck Truck at home, fried chicken pros Mother Clucker are taking over the kitchens at Broadway Market’s Cat & Mutton pub for the Mother Clucker Cat kitchen takeover. Their classic fried chicken is tea brined, buttermilk soaked and twice battered which makes it so darn good and to celebrate the launch they are spicing up their menu (not in the chili sense) with new dishes and cocktails including New Orleans style fish gumbo and […]

2nd DF Mexico to Open

A year ago, the team behind Wahaca launched DF Mexico, a modern Mexican diner which was inspired by their travels state side and below the border. It started out as an experiment in Shoreditch (thanks guys for being the guinea pigs) and they obviously made a good impression because next month they are heading west to open their second site on Tottenham Court Road. The 130 cover restaurant’s menu will feature all boldness of America whilst still retaining the spiciness and more delicate flavours of Mexico. Dishes will include the likes of the NYC Torta, a Mexican sandwich served up […]

Garden Gate Pop-Up At OXO2

The Secret Garden is one of our favourite childhood books, so we were super excited when we heard about the new secret garden inspired pop-up that is making its return to OXO2 this summer. Get ready for another year of summer cocktails and picnics treats by the river Thames. Lined with kitsch garden décor, the whimsical ‘outdoor’ atmosphere will leave you thinking you’ve left the capital behind and are in a sunny suburbia, even though you’re really in the heart of London! For two weeks in August, the Garden Gate will be a safe haven for humans and garden gnomes […]

Gelupo Team Open Vico

Jacob Kenedy and Victor Hugo the guys behind Bocca di Lupo and Gelupo are set to open Vico, an Italian restaurant later this month in Seven Dials. We say restaurant, but the focus here is on all things casual. They’ve gone for the Italian piazza look, so they’ll be minimal seating, carnival lighting and a playful design; it’s said to be surprising but they won’t let us in on any more details than that at the moment.  In fact it’s so casual that cutlery is frowned upon, eating with your hands will finally be acceptable and there is hardly going […]
