Restaurant Story presents ‘Bedtime Story’.

We promised ourselves we’d be healthy this week but we put that idea to bed when we heard about Restaurant Story’s new ‘Bedtime Story’. This involves a selection of digestifs paired with chocolate bars by Cocoa Runners. The digestifs include pisco, mezcal, whisky and chartreuse. There are five bed time storys to choose from. We’d like all five but we think if we were to go down that route we probably wouldn’t wake up for a few days. Our favourites include the Somerset Cider Brandy 5YO paired with The Chocolate Tree Peru Nacional and the Whisky 15YO paired with the […]

Experience Egypt with Aladino’s Restaurant.

The bad news is we’re not in Egypt roaming the local food markets. The good news is that we have the next best thing. Aladin Barakat, acclaimed chef and restaurateur by Chaîne des Rôtisseurs, has brought Egypt to us. His stylish restaurant sports a personalised brand of the countrys finest cuisine. The starters range from traditional lentil soup with Aladin’s special twist. Oooo intriguing! Or for something less surprising try his famous prawns in a delicately-flavoured crispy coating. The main dishes include his signature dish of lamb that has been marinated and then slow-cooked to such a tender state that […]

Tartufi and Friends: Truffle Hunting

If there is one ingredient that gets us a little giddy with excitement when we see it on the menu then it’s truffle (and for once it’s not the chocolate variety) so you can imagine how happy we were when we heard Harrods is opening Tartufi & Friends, a whole restaurant dedicated to it, opening this April. Opening on the lower ground floor, Tartufi & Friends, which has flagship restaurants in Rome and Milan, will be serving up truffle in creative ways – truffle martini anyone?  Or what about a Margarita with white truffle salt? Singer Tavern: more drinks less sewing

Sewing should only be attempted by a professional, aka mum, unless, of course the sewing bit is only a front and it actually involves drinking cocktails. In which case, count us in. Yes a very warm welcome to the new martini bar downstairs at the 5cc Singer Tavern. It may look like an east end boozer on the outside but the interior was originally conceived to house the HQ of the famous Singer Sewing Machine Company. The machines are long gone but there’s still some cool old school signage adorning the bare brick walls. The cocktail menu features the likes […]
