Get Creative at Bite Me Pizza

Have you ever tried to make your own pizza? We mean really make it – shop bought dough is not allowed. If so, you know what appears to be a fairly easy task can quickly become rather challenging and end in tears. Cue misshapen bases, under-proved dough and a very unhappy chef. For this reason, we were delighted to discover Bite Me Pizzas; a shabby chic pizzeria based in Notting Hill, where customers can choose from over thirty toppings in which to create a custom-made pizza. Founded by twenty-two year old Christopher Mannesis, the ethos of the restaurant is simple: […]

Restaurant at Tate Modern Review

The Evening Standard has described the level 6 restaurant at the Tate Modern as ‘one of the best views in London’ so I knew I would be in for a good time on my review – and then it rained. Luckily for me, despite the weather’s best efforts to dampen my view, the mist didn’t manage to cloud the view of St Paul’s from across the river which is the main attraction. The rest of the skyline was left to my imagination which I reckon on a clear day would be beautiful. Once we were seated and had assigned ourselves […]

Pellicano Restaurant Review

Pellicano restaurant is a family owned Sardinian establishment who is currently finding a home at myhotel Chelsea, while their original residence at Elystan Street is under refurbishment. Their new location is on the ground floor of the hotel and has its own terrace when you can enjoy the hot, city nights while indulging in some people watching. The food is Italian with a Sardinian twist and like any good Italian boasts an extensive wine list, that being said the Raspberry Martini is a great summer cocktail, not so strong that you are floored but it has enough kick to know […]

Quaglino’s

Quaglino’s has had more facelifts than an aging movie star but this grande dame – 85 no less – is re-opening (again) in October following a multi-million pound renovation and new contemporary European menu by executive chef Mickael Weiss alongside a programme of late-night live music performances and events. First opened in 1929 by the legendary Giovanni Quaglino, it had a Conran overhaul in the 1980s and now Russell Sage Studio has restored the signature sweeping staircase, balcony bar, main restaurant and mezzanine private dining rooms with the addition of a glamorous central cocktail bar and a stage for intimate […]

Boyds Brasserie Afternoon Tea

If there’s anything we love at The Handbook it’s a good afternoon tea; delicious cakes and sandwiches down-sized to miniature portions, shrinking down those pesky calories with it meaning you are free to indulge in twice as much! (That’s my story and I’m sticking to it). So when we were invited to Boyds Brasserie, a lounge bar and restaurant focused on smart British fare situated a few minutes’ walk from Charing Cross station, we were more than happy to attend. Kicking off the savoury section to their afternoon tea are the Potted Shrimps served with Lemon and Crisp Bread which […]
