Cheyne Walk Brasserie Afternoon Tea

Chelsea favourite, Cheyne Walk Brasserie, has recently joined the afternoon tea brigade and so The Handbook went down to check it out. And, well, we were expecting a little bit more. Whilst the restaurant has a friendly, relaxed atmosphere, upstairs was a little more subdued – it had the air of a waiting room – carpeted floor, a few sofas around small low tables and most importantly seeing as there were only four of us in there, no music or back ground noise, just an odd ticking that made it sound like it was raining heavily outside. But in true […]

GB Pizza Co

You might expect a fish ‘n’ chips restaurant to originate out of the seaside town of Margate but definitely not a pizzeria, however, at GB Pizza, the odd anchovy is about as fishy as you get. GB began life in the summer of 2012 as an al-fresco pop-up on the Margate harbour in the back of a VW Campervan and owners Lisa Richards and Rachel Seed went on to launch their first bricks and mortar restaurant on the town’s seafront. The second branch of GB Pizza opens today in the rather more urban environment of Exmouth Market with three-minute quirky […]

Culinary Mischief: Review

The other day we told you about Culinary Mischief – the underground dining experience presented by iL Tocco Food set up by chef Gabriele Bertaccini, and since their next event was to be held in London, we thought we would go down and join in with the feast and report back. The location was announced the day before to keep and element of secrecy to the event – well it is underground dining after all – and we found out that we were going to be dining in the Library at the London Marriott Hotel, County Hall in Westminster. Having […]

Pont St at Belgraves Hotel Review

Pont ST at Belgraves Hotel is a restaurant that promises beautifully prepared seasonal fare in a beautiful Knightsbridge location, it was established as a replacement to the hotel’s previous HIX Belgravia. With a kitchen headed by Sophie Michell of TV’s ‘Cook Yourself Thin’ fame, she promises a ‘distinct style’ of light seafood, drawing inspiration from Californian, Australian and Mediterranean sources. Based around seasonal fare, done simply, this passion for food suggested an eclectic range of dishes which piqued our curiosity instantly. Coupled with an interior, designed by Tara Bernerd, the venue promised an elegant evening ahead. With our expectations well and […]
