Lanes of London Review

Lanes of London on Park Lane is like a new best friend who you feel like you have known for years. Or that is what The Handbook thought when we went down to check it out this week. Despite it being a new restaurant, it didn’t have any of that shiny- new brightness where the paint looks almost sterile or hospital like; rather it felt homely and at ease with itself. With low lighting, grand ceilings, vintage mirrors, high wing back chairs and an air of a member’s club there is none of the stuffiness, the cocktails were served in […]

Toga not compulsory but the chosen one will be lavished with privileges throughout the night in typical Emperor fashion.  To be in with a chance of the title, party goers will be asked to photograph themselves wearing Bunga Bunga’s new limited edition caps and after uploading to facebook or twitter with the hastag #IAMTHEEMPEROR […]

Zumbura: Review

Zumbura is a relaxed, welcoming restaurant in Old Town, Clapham with friendly staff. A large bar where guests can sit, enjoy the food and watch their cocktails being prepared takes up one side of the restaurant. Now I have set the scene I’m going to tell you about the food because it deserves the majority of this blog. We sampled a lot of the food, and by a lot I mean nearly everything, so I will try and keep it short. The Pakora are spinach and onion chick pea flour fritters were an authentic starter which reminded me of onion […]

Chop Shop: Review

Over in Haymarket the Chop Shop has just launched their new Sunday lunch set menu: a beef rib chop, roast potatoes, side and half a bottle of red wine for £35. We arrived late afternoon to find the restaurant had mellowed after a busy lunch service and there were just few a couples spending long, lazy afternoons with bottles of wine. The restaurant itself is long, narrow with tables for two down the side, at the end it opens out into a larger space where there was a mix of tables for larger parties. It is all very laid back, […]
