Berners Tavern

Next month chef and restaurateur Jason Atherton will launch the all-day Berners Tavern, in Ian Schrager’s new The London EDITION Hotel, on Berners Street in Fitzrovia. The restaurant will be accessible via a separate entrance and will seat 140 covers. Phil Carmichael, who has cooked with Jason for over ten years, is heading up the kitchen creating a contemporary British menu. COAL VAULTS

Coal Vaults opens today on Wardour Street in an historic building originally used for storing coal in the early 19th Century. Hence the name. The space has been restored to its former glory using copper, timber, steel, and old London stock brickwork. The Smokehouse has just opened in Islington from Scott Hunter and Maria Larsen, the couple behind The Princess of Shoreditch, The Lady Ottoline and The Pig and Butcher. Head chef is Neil Rankin (John Salt).
