Prêt-À-Portea Afternoon Tea at The Berkeley

Spring/Summer 2013’s trendiest treat, The Berkeley’s Prêt-À-Portea Afternoon Tea is back on the catwalk with an exclusive new collection of catwalk-inspired cakes. A step into the Berkeley wardrobe will reveal a gorgeous selection of the latest, must-have delicacies. Imagine Jason Wu’s “Carolyn” hatbox transformed into a coconut cake sandwiched in retro leopard print chocolate or Prada’s white chocolate and Grand Marnier oversized coat with a red poppy embellishment. Alexander McQueen’s yellow honeycomb cream dress is also creating a “buzz” with its marzipan bee topping. Then take a trip to the dark side with Balenciaga’s monochrome dark and white chocolate mousse […]

The Elgin – Maida Vale

You don’t particularly notice the décor at The Elgin, which is a good sign; this pub/restaurant is all about the food and service, which is outstanding. It’s not a pub in a traditional sense – you walk straight into a bright, airy and bare-bricked room, with sturdy wooden tables featuring the standard flickering candle. If I was asked what The Elgin looked like, I’d say ‘lots of wood’, which isn’t the most descriptive of phrases, but probably sums it up. This Maida Vale bar and grill is the sort where regular diners are greeted like old friends, and the service […]
