Burger & Lobster City

The most figure friendly of the last year’s wave of US style burger-cum-hotdog fast-food-made-cool joints – not only serving salad that isn’t a potato chip (though happily it does those too) but also realizing that fish is an eminently acceptable meal choice. Hot on the heels of its Mayfair, Soho and Farringdon branches comes Burger and Lobster City open Monday to Friday in Bread Street and serving up the three stalwarts as per the chalk boards: burger, lobster and a lobster roll complete with wasabi mayo. And better still, now that there are more of them, perhaps the only downside, […]

Clockjack Oven

Just launched in Denman Street this month  Clockjack Oven  is bringing free range rotisserie cooked chicken to the streets of Soho. The new venue is serving up a storm with its herb marinated chicken served with Clockjack Oven’s very own special sauces.  Taking its name from the Tudor cooking mechanism which proved its inspiration, Clockjack Oven’s chicken is roasted over a naked flame, where the intense heat preserves and intensifies the flavours in the skin whilst the rotation of the spit ensures the flesh is gently cooked so it’s succulent and tender. The venue’s founders, Jerry Goldberg and Fraser Duncan […]

Now Is All There Is at The Hospital Club

Chorographer George Balanchine called for his dancers to be ‘in the moment’ and to give everything, this is the inspiration that lies behind Now Is All There Is – Bodies in Motion the spectacular photographic exhibition at The Gallery at The Hospital Club.  The exhibition celebrates the physicality and expression of the dancers from the Royal Ballet. The 34 stylized images taken over two years by Rick Guest have been styled by Olivia Pomp who has focused the strength and power that must be inherent in the dancer’s poise. Harvey Nichols Fifth Floor take on VIVA FOREVER

February begins with a ‘hurrah’ sounded throughout the UK as those who managed to abstain from drink throughout January finally crack. Harvey Nichols tells us what we want – what we really really want – with a Viva Forever themed cocktail menu. Available till April these opulent cocktails come with a bow and are each named after and themed around the famous five; though I’m sure that the fact the ‘Posh Spice’ contains grapefruit bitters is just a coincidence. In true Harvey Nicks style the Viva Forever cocktail menu should follow (or accompany) the Afternoon Tea of the same theme. […]

Big Easy to the rescue

A lot of music fans are understandably a trifle miffed that the beleagured HMV is refusing to honour gift cards and vouchers. Especially since the chain was perfectly happy to take people's money for said items in the run up to Christmas AND is still continuing to trade… However, legendary King's Road Crabshack, Big Easy is inviting unhappy HMV customers to drown their sorrows. It is offering a complimentary classic frozen margarita in exchange for an HMV gift card or voucher of any value. Admittedly more palatable if your stake falls below a tenner but still it's the thought that […]
