For ten days this month, during Frieze Art Fair, British artist Toby Ziegler will install a site specific exhibition in the basement of Q Park, a car park space accessed by lift and concealed fourteen floors below street level on Old Burlington Street. Five sculptures will be influenced by Brueghel's painting "The Cripples" and will be surrounded by large-scale light boxes depicting an abstracted thicket of horses legs, derived from a detail of a Piero della Francesca fresco. As of this week, the team behind Bombay café, Dishoom in Covent Garden is going east and opening on Boundary Street in the heart of Shoreditch with a bar, café, kitchen dining room and courtyard. Dishoom pays homage to the Irani cafés that were once part of the fabric of life in Bombay. Opened early last century by Persian immigrants, there were almost 400 at their 1960s peak though nowadays fewer than 30 remain. The Portobello House Hotel opened quietly in June but last week saw the launch of an onsite bistro alongside the official launch of the hotel. It lies but a few blocks from the legendary road of the same name and is a family business owned by Lara Adams, Carlo and Louisa Limata and Guy Binns.
