Click to read for answerIt’s pretty hard to say winter is coming nowadays without thinking of John Snow clad in an overwhelming amount of fur looking out onto a tumultuous and bleak setting of snow and overcasting. However, the truth is that winter actually is coming (despite the Indian-summer style weather proving otherwise), and in keen anticipation inamo Camden is popping up with its Winter Garden, featuring three ent(ice)ing igloo pods. Sorry… snow more bad puns! inamo are Pan-Asian restaurants and bars which can be found flurried across the city with locations in Soho, Covent Garden and now Camden. However, the latter will be the only venue to […]
There’s something about Champagne, isn’t there? A level of sophistication that you can’t achieve with other drinks. Perhaps it’s because it’s over-priced and quaffed by the sort of people who say ‘quaffed’, but maybe it’s down to the subtleties of the wine, the richness of the flavours and the variety of producers. As a nation we import more Champagne than anyone else, the City of London practically runs on the stuff. And London is the perfect place to find a great Champagne bar and make the most of France’s best export after Asterix & Obelix. St Pancras By Searcys If […]
How do you like your eggs in the morning? If the answer is ‘scotched’ then you’ve come to the right place. With the nights drawing in, the mercury plunging and duffle coat sales going through the ceiling, there’s only one food that can hit the spot perfectly. Trudge through the gloaming gloom to one of these light and warmth-filled pubs and restaurants selling these balls of sausagey-breadcrumby-eggy goodness. Ben’s Canteen You have to break some eggs to make an omelette, said Herman Göring, but because we’re not Nazis we’re going to make sure they’re very much not broken. And the […]
If you like buns, hun then the new bao restaurant, Baby Bao, is going to be a bit of you. Originally from Brighton, it’s definitely done an address upgrade as its new home is now in Pall Mall; it needn’t be intimidated by its upmarket neighbours though as the menu is a real gem. They Cater To Your Dietary Requirements The seemingly vegetarian bao buns are actually vegan as are a tonne of other options on the menu like their amazing Japanese Karaage cauliflower which is fried in potato flour and served with miso mayo and lemon; granted, the mayo […]
Award-winning Michelin-starred restaurant Galvin at Windows has recently launched a brunch menu and of course being the brunch fans that we are, we needed no excuse to head to the 28th floor of the London Hilton on Park Lane to take on the menu. It’s Their First The Saturday brunch menu launched this September, some twelve years after the restaurant first opened and it may come as a surprise, as brunch is a staple of Londoners’ weekends, but this is Galvin at Windows’ first brunch. Rather than jumping on the band wagon, Head Chef Joo Won and his team took […]
Feeling a little worse for wear after your Christmas party? Is the thought of another night out making you feel a little weepy? Fear not, because Lucky Voice has come up with a genius idea, the Christmas Party Hangover Club, which is essentially a night in, but out. Rather than stay in, going over and over how you drunk called your ex about ten times before blocking them in the hope they might not noticed, get your friends together and head to Lucky Voice where you can cosy down under a blanket for an evening of pizza and Christmas films. […]
Surprisingly for a country that seems to be constantly panicking about cultural intrusions from abroad, we’re all over Oktoberfest. The German import sees us dress up in bizarre Bavarian dress (wipe-clean leather overalls for men and booby serving wench dresses for women) and drink copious amounts of beer, so the attraction is clear. Here’s where to get your Oktoberfest fix in London. Electric Ballroom Camden’s Electric Ballroom will be offering beer, sausages and teutonic tunes for two nights only for 3,000 revellers. The iconic venue will be fully-decked out as an Oktoberfest beerhall with long wooden tables, bunting and steins […]
London may have the world’s best bar, but catch it while you can because it’s shutting down! Dandelyan, the acclaimed cocktail bar on the ground floor of Southbank’s Mondrian Hotel, has been awarded the accolade of World’s Best Bar just two days after announcing that it would be closing its doors. The bar, from world famous mixologist Ryan Chetiyawardana a.k.a.’d as Mr Lyan, announced on Instagram that it would be shutting its doors on its fourth birthday, though no specific date has yet been given. Commenting, Chetiyawardana explained “it feels fitting on our 4th birthday to kill off our now-eldest venue… it makes […]
Tomorrow is World Porridge Day! The dish is the quintessential breakfast, the only Scottish national dish that doesn’t involve offal or deep frying and it’s the perfect dish to start off your day. Yes, you can boil a kettle and douse your oats in the office, but why not head out and have porridge done proper? Clarks Maple Shack Not sure about you but the ONLY way to do porridge is with syrup. And so who better than syruppists Clark’s Maple Syrup? And, handily just in time for porridge season, they’ve got a pop-up coming to Bishops Square. What’s more, tomorrow […]
Venice, one of the most romantic cities on the globe, inspiration for Canaletto, Hemingway and the James Bond people, with nearly as many canals as Birmingham and a history that’s rich with intrigue, power and greed. But has it got an M&M World? Well Venetian sophistication is coming to the West End. One of the most luxurious restaurants in the floating city is Harry’s Bar, famous for its Bellinis and its carpaccio, both of which it lays claim to. Quite how you ‘invent’ raw meat is a mystery, and personally I think they should have quit after the Bellini, but […]
Once the home of actress Lille Langtry and the place of Oscar Wilde’s arrest, Knightsbridge favourite, The Cadogan Hotel is set to reopen following its closure back in 2014. Returning at the end of the year as the Belmond Cadogan Hotel, it’ll feature 54 rooms and suites, a new restaurant by a celebrated chef and a spa and fitness suite. Rooms will pay heritage to the building’s past whilst staying bright, striking and luxurious. We of course, have our eye on the Royal Suite. Not only is it the largest suite, it also has the most interesting history, as it’s […]
