G & Tea at The Langham

Following an 80m refurbishment, the top London Hotel has also added a bit of a new spark to some of it's menus.  This month is your last chance to have a 'G & Tea' in the Palm Court, where the hotel's 'tea sommeliers' have worked with Beefeater 24 and mastered an afternoon tea package inspired by the distillery's new super-premium-gin.  So it's an afternoon tea with a gin and tonic, but the concept goes a little deeper. The tea has been flavoured with gin botanicals, whilst  Beefeater gin is also comprised of a rare combination of teas. The 'Tea' also comprises […]

Cartier Polo Dubai

If you thought the Cartier Polo held at The Guards Club, Windsor was uber-exclusive then you ain’t seen nothing til you've experienced the Middle Eastern version, The Cartier Dubai Polo Challenge. Usually famed for going one bigger than anyone else – you’ve just got to look at the spanking new Burj Khalifa to get the idea – Dubai’s answer to the Guards Club event is a boutique little number of just 500 elite invited guests who were all treated to a sumptuous luncheon and afternoon tea in between matches. It certainly beat our usual picnic – even one from Fortnum […]

Lovers and Fighters

It’s love verses war where two of the capital’s upcoming launches are concerned. Coquine is the flirty French coquette of Old Brompton Road and Avalon is Shoreditch’s new Elysium, named after the legendary island where King Arthur went for a bit of Morgan Le Fey magic when he’d received a particularly nasty pounding on the field. Veteran entrepreneur and owner of Valmont Club, Dipak Panchal is launching Coquine at the end of March. The intimate two-storey venue has been designed by the multi-talented Lee Broom with a seductive French theme. The ground-floor restaurant showcases Victorian tiles, decorative ceiling and Broom’s […]

The Bentley London

The Bentley London Waldorf Astoria Collection has launched a brand new concept in hotels, offering the entire building to patrons for private hire, thus catering for the most dignified and exclusive of groups. The elegant and established hotel situated on Harrington Gardens, SW7, has long been the choice of accommodation for groups of visiting politicians and ambassadors, and the new venture reflects the recent desire of such parties for bespoke, self-contained and secure venues. Manson Fulham

From the same team that brought you the hugely successful Sands End Pub – Manson, with Chef Gemma Tuley (the youngest ever appointed head chef under Gordon Ramsey) at the helm, has the potential to be truly excellent. Half of France welcomed us in to an extremely casual and comfortable bistro style restaurant at the parsons green end of the Fulham road. If anything the waiters were a little too enthusiastic, surprising, given that one in particular couldn’t actually speak any English. By the time the food arrived though, I realised they had good reason to be. My trio of […]

Vive La Revolution

"Once you kill a cow you gotta make a burger" says Lady Gaga to Beyonce in the feature length video for her latest single, Telephone and if the new Guerilla Burger joint in James Street is anything to go by, we reckon she’s definitely onto something. With slogans including ‘The People’s Patty’, ‘Drop Food Not Bombs’ and ‘Buns Not Guns’ you might be forgiven for thinking that Guerilla Burgers is some kind of pop-up marketing stunt dreamt up by the adverting gurus at the nearby Selfridges. However, it’s actually the new offering from the team behind the highly successful Giraffe […]

Primavera 2010

With Fashion Week but a memory, we turn to Primavera 2010 offerings with a more gastronomic bent. From Italy’s fashion capital of Milan comes the Alvaro Group’s Pollen nestled in Vogue House territory just behind Hanover Square and Cielo on New Burlington Street does it for the Sardinian contingent. At only 29, slick Italian entrepreneur Livio Bisterzo is still a spring chicken but the founder of ultra fashionable Maddox Club and men's skincare range Kyoku, is certainly not one to let the grass grow under his feet. Recently named one of the most influential Londoners by the Evening Standard for […]
