It’s Strictly Bangers at Salon

This week sees the launch of Strictly Bangers, a night of top wine and top tunes. Taking place monthly at Salon’s newly opened wine store, some of London’s top sommeliers including Mattia Bianchi of Berber & Q and Mat Roberts from Westerns Laundry will be bringing their best bottles to the table and match it with top tunes. Alfresco Secret Garden Returns to Paddington

It may not seem like it, it may seem like we’re in an eternal winter, but one day the sun will shine and one day we won’t have to wear a gazillion layers. When that happens, there is one place we’ll be heading straight to: Pergola Paddington. After over 179,000 of us flocked to secret alfresco terrace last year, it has decided (and rightly so) to return for season two. Set over two levels and with seating for 850, seven comfy day beds, two huge open bars and a line-up of restaurants including DF Mexico, Canard and MAM, it’s set […]

We Review: Cambridge’s New Hotel, Tamburlaine

What: I didn’t get into Cambridge University. I was ill and spluttered my way through the interview, I also said that I thought 1960’s architecture was a mistake, I knew from the professor’s raised eyebrow that was not the right answer…how was I to know at 17 that the building was Grade II listed? For some reason though, just as we seem to cling to all the things that don’t want us, I’m still fan, I still support the light blues in the boat race and when I was invited to stay at Tamburlaine, the city’s latest hotel I, of […]

The Bank Holiday might be over, but we have two things to cheer you up: 1) there is another Bank Holiday in a month and 2) Le Pont de la Tour has recently appointed a new Head Chef, Julien Imbert and his unveiling a new brunch and who doesn’t love a new brunch? The French inspired menu will include black truffled scrambled eggs with fresh truffles on freshly baked brioche topped with comté and chives; Croque Madame with Mornay sauce, ham cured in-house, Emmental cheese with a sunny side up fried egg and Pain Perdu. Make Room For Tapas At The Tapas Room

If there’s one thing we’ve always got room for it’s tapas. So with this in mind, The Tapas Room was pretty perfect. But is there room for two Tapas Rooms? Deptford Market Yard think so. The Tapas Room opened last May down in Tooting’s Broadway Market, brought to us by the owners of Pop Brixton’s Donostia Social Club. In an incredibly short time it’s become a mainstay of Tooting Broadway Market’s thriving food scene and so, building on that success, they’ve decided to open a second restaurant, this time in Deptford Market Yard. The Tapas Room combines a mind-bogglingly wide […]

The London Cheese Project Returns

The London Cheese Project is concerned. They’re worried that people are just jumping on the cheese band wagon and aren’t stopping to appreciate just how good cheese is. It’s not all about cheese puns and terrible cheese hashtags, yep apparently some people are #sluttyforcheese – cheese deserves more. Which is why, The London Cheese Project will be returning to Hoxton for the third time this May with their biggest celebration yet. It’s three days of cheese at the Geffrye Museum, you’ll find a line-up of the UK’s best cheese makers, cheesemongers and street food chefs at the forefront of British […]

The Restaurant Serving Dog Food To Humans…

Even by hipster East London standards this one’s a bit ruff, but is eating dog food the next big thing? According to The Dog House, Dalston’s latest opening, not only is it the dog’s b*llocks but we’re all going to be chomping down on Pedigree Chum in 2018’s weirdest trend yet. The restaurant, brainchild of brother and sister duo Avril and Fullé Gagg, opens this weekend and, uniquely, the menu is drawn entirely from supermarket pet food labels, each combined with seasonal ingredients guaranteed to get your tail wagging. Split into wet and dry food, the menu is served alongside […]

Vijay’s Lounge: Fitzrovia’s New Speakeasy Bar

Those who have been to Indian restaurant Lokhandwala, will know that it is based on Victorian aristocrat Lady Charlotte, the spurned lover of Vijay Kapur, an insalubrious cad from Bombay. Well now it’s Vijay’s turn to have somewhere dedicated to him as Vijay’s Lounge opens today, a speak easy bar, above the restaurant. A secretive bar where he could run his empire and no doubt hide from Lady Charlotte. Just like Vijay, the bar will be rich, moody and opulent with an impressively stocked bar, striking bronze chandeliers, oil paintings and a silver elephant; come the summer, you’ll be able […]
