Kricket And Brixton Reunited: The Must Visit Indian Heads Home

The sun’s out, blue sky and the smell of mown grass! Time for some Kricket? No, not the endlessly dull summer sport, but the Indian restaurant phenomenon. Kricket, feted for its casual and creative Indian food served out of their Soho flagship restaurant, will be opening in Brixton this May. In a tremendous homecoming, Kricket will return to Brixton as ‘boy done good’. The restaurant was born in POP Brixton back in 2015, went to Soho to seek its fortune, and now, hot on the heels of an opening at the prestigious Television Centre, will be opening back on home-turf in […]

The Corinthia Launches A New Afternoon Tea And It’s Exactly What We’ve Been Waiting For

Don’t get us wrong, we love a quirky new afternoon tea! But when the email from this or that hotel arrives heralding their latest tea, themed on Fire Extinguishers or Oversized Sports Direct Mugs (okay, you got me, I’m literally looking at items around me in the office, but that’s how random they sometimes are, like seriously), sometimes we just yearn for a simple, old fashioned afternoon tea. Then The Corinthia got in touch. Finally, no cakes shaped after Disney characters, no hackneyed links to tenuous events or celebrations, no corporate tie-ins, just a plain and simple traditional afternoon tea. […]

A Sneak Preview Of Hide, The New Dabbous Restaurant

As Ollie Dabbous double locked the door of his eponymous restaurant for the final time and walked into the sunset, Michelin Star poking out of his cardboard box of possessions, we all knew that he’d be back. Well now he is and in serious style. Welcome to Hide. Dabbous quickly built one of London’s most sought after eating spots in London when he launched back in 2012. His wonder-restaurant seemingly came out of nowhere and raced to the top of everyone’s go-to list. Now he’s had a year in the wilderness (not quite, he launched the highly successful restaurant at The Henrietta), […]

We Review: Bryn Williams at Somerset House

What? Bryn Williams, the celebrated Welsh chef has just opened his first London restaurant in a decade. And it’s all about the vegetables, without being vegetarian. Rather, it champions vegetables, putting them centre stage not just a mere side dish, with meat and fish taking to the wings. New? Yes, it opened at the start of March. I’m sure its opening at the start of March had nothing to do with the start of spring and much more to do with when they were ready to do so, but a veg-centric restaurant opening when the days are getting lighter seemed […]

Prosecco Lovers Wont Want To Miss This!

Most people’s idea of eternal paradise probably involves unlimited fruit trifle and Prosecco springs, where sparkling wine flows from the ground. Well they’ve decided against the trifle bit, but Prosecco Springs will be bringing to life the rest of paradise when they launch in less than a fortnight’s time. Billed as the ultimate festival for Prosecco lovers, Prosecco Springs comes to East London’s Oval Space on Thursday 26th April with a weekend of wall-to-wall Prosecco. Okay, forget the trifle, we’re in heaven. The first wave of wine producers present has already been revealed and includes Bottega, straight from the hills of […]

The Hotel Launching In Actual Space

For hotels, space is now the final frontier. And there was me thinking it was bidets. A company has launched the first space hotel and everyone’s going mad for it. If you find checking into a hotel a bit of a faff, getting your key, ordering a wake up call and hearing how the minibar works, then you ain’t seen nothing. A hotel just launched where you have to do a three month course before even setting foot inside. Not a fan of elevators? This one’s 200 miles high. Welcome to Aurora Station. The given launch date of 2021 seems […]

Critics’ Choices: Everywhere We Reviewed in March

Pancake Day fell early this year, with all it’s batter-ey fun and flipping madness. But with it came a slew of Lent resolutions, from one team member giving up sugar to my re-instigation of the ‘no thirds’ diet. As a result we all cut back on our restaurant reviews, hence so few this month. But fear not, within days to weeks we’d all fallen off the wagon and were back to the trough; which means that April will be a bumper month of reviews! by CHLOE Apparently Chloe knows a thing or two about cooking, as she’s hit these shores […]

FlaminGO To This Alice In Wonderland Tea

I received my first invite to a Christmas event from a PR this week. It’s not that I’m not already in a Christmassy mood, given the weather sitch right now I feel I may as well be about to don bobblehat and mittens and head out ‘a-wassailing’, but still it’s a bit premature, right? I’m starting to feel the same way about all the summer emails popping into my inbox right now, ‘Celebrate the start of summer this’ and ‘Spring has sprung that’ when I’m still sat here, hugging the radiator by my desk and congratulating myself for wearing my […]

The Michelin Star Restaurant Coming To King’s Cross

Coal Drops Yard, in King’s Cross, is to play host to the latest instalment of Barrafina’s seemingly unstoppable expansion. The group, which already has a Michelin Star for their Soho outpost, is set to launch their new canal-side restaurant later this year. And to spice things up a bit, they’ve embraced crowdfunding to give you the chance to own a slither of the restaurant yourself. Back in an age when London consumed coal in the way it now does avocados, Coal Drops Yard was built to handle the eight million tons of anthracite every year. Having fallen into disrepair, it […]
