Salt Beef Bar, Mercer & Co, Opens

Monday; it’s a great day for a bit of salt beef don’t you think? Oh and look at that, today is the day that Mercer & Co opens, a new salt beef bar serving up salt beef bagels and sandwiches, washed down with cocktails. It’s the work of Alex Foley, Islington resident and the man behind The Chapel Bar – he’s used his knowledge of the area and his passion for food, to create a simple, independent café. There’ll be space for 20 inside and 16 outside with the interior made from recycled materials, with large wooden wicker lights and […]

Dandy Opens in Newington Green

Last month saw the closure of the Dandy Café, the popular shipping container pop-up restaurant in London Fields, but as one door closes another always opens and the door opening this time is the door to Dandy, the new permanent restaurant from the duo Daniel Wilson and Andrew Leitch. Opening next Wednesday, Dan and Andy have created an extended menu from the one that they served at the pop-up, which takes inspiration from their travels and uses seasonal produce from trusted suppliers. You’ll find the likes of Shawarma-spiced lamb belly, baba ganoush and cauliflower; burnt onion broth, spring leaves and […]

Peruvian Bottomless Brunch at COYA

As you probably already know, here at the Handbook HQ, we are big brunch aficionados. Always on the lookout for our next weekend destination, it’s no surprise that we are drawn to COYA Mayfair’s newest offering; Latin-American Bottomless Brunch. Cue angels singing, parades through Mayfair and salsa dancing in the streets. (Not really, but we can wish right?) Launching the first weekend in April –and not as some cruel April Fool’s joke- London’s first Peruvian restaurant will open its doors with the only real decision you need to make; classic bottomless Champagne, firm favourite Pisco Sour or their new twisted […]

A Boozy Monday Brunch launches at Shackfuyu

There is only one way to beat that “uh it’s Monday” feeling and that’s by starting the weekend countdown as soon as your Monday lunch time break arrives (or if you’re wise, wait until after work). Grab your bag, throw your jacket on and head to Shackfuyu to indulge in a three-course Japanese inspired brunch and..wait for it…the feast is washed down with free-flowing Prosecco finished with a dash of pineapple sake (just think, Friday is just 4 more sleeps away). That’s sure to end the Monday blues. Guests will get to choose two small plates from dishes including katsu […]

Andi’s Arrives in Stoke Newington

If we were to open our own restaurant, then we’d definitely want Andi Oliver and Kelly Miles on our team. Sorry to break it to you, but we aren’t opening a restaurant… it’s alright though, because they are. Opening on 4th April on Stoke Newington Church Street, Andi’s will be both your new brunch spot and your go-to local brasserie. Why would we want them on our team? Because Andi Oliver, is not only a chef, but also, a musician, pub landlady, supper club queen and a judge on BBC2’s The Great British Menu. Whilst Kelly Miles has 15 years’ […]

London’s Big New Foodie Destination

It started with King’s Cross, then it was Victoria’s turn to take the foodie baton but the next big area to keep an eye on is Tower Bridge. A huge multi-million pound renovation of the area is bringing with it luxury apartments on the banks of the Thames… and we’re talking serious luxury. Residents will enjoy perks akin to any 5-star hotel; think 24-hour Harrods concierge, a 20m swimming pool with white gold tiles, virtual golf and a luxurious spa treatment room, but what about food? Who really wants to come home and cook after a long day of business? […]

Lewisham’s New Restaurant: Sparrow

What’s in a name? Well, if you’re husband and wife team, Terry Blake and Yohini Nandakumar, your restaurant name, Sparrow, reflects the kind of food they want to make, because like a sparrow their new Lewisham restaurant won’t be specific to a place or country. Opening next Tuesday, the menu will be a homage to the food they love. The couple met when they worked together at St. John’s and they’ll bring together Terry’s experience as a chef at the likes of BAO, Merchant’s Tavern and Amisfield and Saffron in New Zealand; with Yohini’s experiences at Pollen Street Social, The […]

So, why are we talking about Matt this morning? He’s about to open his next bar, Scout and you need to know about it. Rick Stein Opens His First London Restaurant

Up until a couple of years ago, Rick Stein didn’t think he would open a restaurant in London and us Londoners, would have to be content with heading to Winchester to visit his nearest restaurant (which is only an hour from Waterloo and an excellent city, if you want a trip); that was until he came across The Depot in Barnes. Being not too far from his home in Chiswick and with the perfect riverside setting, Rick settled on the site, a former stable and coach house and steam engine shed and tomorrow will see it opening as Rick Stein […]

Hotdog Hunting this Easter at bubbledogs

When you were a kid, the best thing about Easter (besides stuffing your face with chocolate) was always the Easter egg hunt (and then stuffing your face with chocolate once again). Bubbledogs are bringing back that joy, but with an adult twist, and on the streets of London. The gourmet Champagne and hotdog bar will be hiding 1,000 Champagne-shaped keepsakes and substituting your back garden for the more spacious, albeit far less green, areas of Soho and Fitzrovia to hunt the ‘bottles’ down. These bottles will be hidden high and low, inside and out, tucked away in offices and under […]
