Rok Opens in Islington

Last summer Shoreditch saw the opening of Rok, a restaurant serving up Nordic influenced dishes and safe to say it was a success. So this summer they’re opening restaurant number two in Islington. Executive chef Matt Young will be overseeing the menu and the sixty cover restaurant will open with seasonal summer offerings which will feature classic dishes from their Shoreditch restaurant (such as duck with lingonberry bacon jam and wood smoked peach) as well as new dishes. These include mackerel with pickled onions and flamed crispbread; local grown guinea fowl with semi-cured pork belly and butter poached wild vegetables; […]

Peyotito: Refined Mexican Cuisine

Long gone are the days of gimmicky sombreros and rainbow ponchos tacked onto the walls, as sophisticated, modern Mexican restaurants are beginning to make their welcome debuts into the London foodie scene. A far cry from the typical ‘Tex-Mex’ cuisine, refined Mexican menus, such as the one at new restaurant Peyotito, are transforming the way the capital views Mexican food in the most positive of ways. And thankfully, tequila is still a staple.  Peyotito is launching as a local stalwart in the heart of Notting Hill situated in a light, intimate and casual surrounding… You’ll find it by the neon […]

Carve: Redefining Roasts

The humble British carvery is getting a makeover this summer in the form of Carve which will be coming to Tooley Street soon. Created by Daniel Bear, the founder of Euphorium Bakery, Carve will be redefining the roast with their guilt-free, high-protein carve pots…(that said we’re yet to feel guilty about having a roast). Big on flavour the carve pots will be made from meat, fish and tofu slabs which are hand-carved, pulled and prepped on a special raised carving podium. Rather than Yorkshire puddings and cauliflower cheese they’ll be served with superfoods, spices, relishes and roots – so you’ll […]

Texas Joe: All About the BBQ

The thing with London is that we’re very good at taking parts of other countries culture and cuisine the parts that we like and leaving the parts we aren’t too sure about. Take the US for example, we’re all on board the BBQ restaurants of Texas, we’ll celebrate Thanksgiving if it means we can have a practise run at Christmas but we’ll politely decline Hershey’s – it just isn’t Cadburys. With today being Independence Day London is celebrating in full force and one place opening just in time is Texas Joe. Doing away with the American clichés that are so […]

Who doesn’t carefully curate their outfit for a trip to The Savoy? Even more so when the visit in question is afternoon tea. Twelve of Suzie Turner’s creations will be on display in The Savoy’s Thames Foyer on the first Wednesday of the month – a space which has seen numerous fashion shows in its time, including the critically […]

Live Music and Late Night Dining at Sky Garden: No Ticket Required

Have you ever wanted to spend your weekend partying amongst the stars? No we don’t mean with A listers in an overpriced central London club, we mean 155 metres above street level, in the Sky Garden. Reinventing themselves as a late night destination, Sky Garden’s Sky Pod bar comes alive with live bands and DJ’s every Thursday, Friday and Saturday night, long after the city workers in the streets below have shut down their computers. Whilst most bars with live music are either full by 6.30pm or the entry fee is the equivalent of two drinks (we know which we’d […]

Ahi Poké Opens in Fitzrovia

You might remember when we told you about the dog that was opening a restaurant, (slight use of artistic license), well the team behind Chez Chow (and Mayfair’s NAC) – Jeremy Coste, Gabriel Cohen-Elia and David Belliache are back and opening Ahi Poké next Monday. The latest restaurant to open in Fitzrovia which is having a great 2016 so far, you’ll find it located on Percy Street. The 25-cover restaurant is inspired by Hawaiian beach shacks and the poké bar vibes from L.A – it’s all very laid back and as the name suggests it’s going to be serving up […]
