Italian Street Food Market Opens

A taste of Italy is coming London this June as Mercato Metropolitano is making its UK debut in the new ‘SoBo’ area, just south of Borough. Originally opening its doors in Milan last year, the food market will be sure to be a new rival to nearby Borough market. Set in a gritty warehouse, the site of a disused paper factory, the huge 45,000 square foot market specialises in small producers from all over Italy and the UK and will feature an onsite bakery, butchers, fishmongers, coffee roasters, pizza chefs and, obviously, pasta makers. And if the food isn’t enough to draw you […]

14 Tickets Remaining: Eat Yourself Younger

Healthy eating is everywhere and with a recent report revealing that we are now more health conscious than ever it is no surprise that a lot of us willingly fork out an extra 50p on almond milk in our morning coffee and pay twice the price of a sandwich/crisps/coke meal deal on a courgetti and pesto salad from Whole Foods. But despite noticeable benefits in terms of energy levels and generally feeling virtuous, we don’t think much about what affect our diet has on how we look. Health guru, Elizabeth Peyton Jones, is sharing with us her tricks of the […]

The Barbary: Neal’s Yard’s Latest Restaurant

Time for a history lesson, back in the 16th century, Europeans identified the Barbary coast as the area settled by the Berbers in the Atlas Mountains (if you need to brush up on your geography then that’s Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia and Libya). The area was known for its pirates and the Barbary Lion and now it is lending its name to The Barbary. Just opened in Neal’s Yard, the restaurant is the second offering from siblings Layo and Zoë Paskin, Assaf Granit and Uri Navon, who also own The Palomar. The menu will reflect the countries from the Atlantic Coast […]

Yolk at Duke of Wellington’s

Being a foodie is great, especially in a city with as eclectic a mix of restaurants as London. Whether you’re looking for something as simple as the perfect afternoon tea, or something a little more niche, such as a restaurant that combines Chinese cuisine with Portuguese, you’ll find what you’re looking for in London. The main issue with being a foodie is the constant internal battle between craving comfort food and knowing that after you’ve eaten it you’ll feel thoroughly unsatisfied. It’s a war that’s been raging since the dawn of time and one that it’s about time we had […]

A Taste of Rio in Hackney

One thing Britain is truly Great at is pubs. You don’t have to walk far in any part of London before a George and the Dragon, Kings Head, Fox & Hounds… You get the picture. A new spot in London Fields is combining the pub with the humble corner shop and the outcome is Rio Boteco. Since it’s not a standard pub, the grub here consists of authentic Brazilian tapas and street food dishes like slow cooked ribs, salted cod fishcakes and Bolo de banana with cinnamon ice cream and, instead of a pint, (although craft beers are available – it […]

Django Bango Brings The Gold Rush

It’s no secret that living in London can be tough. Prices are high and by the time you’ve paid for your month’s rent and weekly food shops the money pot is looking a little empty. A night of drinks with your friends becomes a major investment and there’s little more upsetting than watching what’s left of your bank balance going on public transport costs. Fear not though, Londoners, as we’ve found a place where wealth and gold lie in abundance. Hidden down a cobbled street in a South-West London secret location lies the entrance to Django Bango, a portal to […]

CURIO + TA TA: A Meeting of Two Minds

We love it when two things come together to create something even better like doughnuts and croissant or poodles and Labradors which is why we’re looking forward to the opening of CURIO + TĀ TĀ, which brings together street food team TĀ TĀ (aka Chefs Zijun Meng and Ana Gonçalves) with Curio Cabal café (Matt Broughton and Jeremy Duffy). The team met when they were introduced by their mutual friend chef Nuno Mendes, who realised that his local coffee house, Curio Cabal wanted to extend its food menu, so he introduced Matt and Jeremy to TĀ TĀ and the rest […]

Moët & Chandon Champagne Dinner at Quaglino’s

People celebrate summer in a whole variety of ways. Some have a BBQ, others head straight to a roof terrace to drink in the sun or head on a picnic and break out the cucumber sandwiches. But how often do we actually give summer the welcome it deserves – by raising a glass of crisp, bubbly Champagne? If you’re anything like us, the answer is never. However, that’s all about to change thanks to Quaglino’s and their latest offering; a Moët & Chandon Champagne dinner. The evening starts off with a Champagne reception complete with a selection of canapes before guests […]

10 Ways to Celebrate World Gin Day

The most popular drink at the moment is arguably gin. It’s like we can’t get enough of the stuff – everyday we hear a new way for us to drink the juniper-based spirit, whether it’s a new cocktail, pop-up or the largest collection in London. And are we complaining? Not at all. We’re Londoners, whilst our relationship with gin might have been rocky in the past it’s always been strong, so with World Gin Day taking place this Saturday (11th June) we’ve rounded up 10 ways for you to celebrate:
