Homeslice: 20″ Pizza

What: Impressive pizza in Neal’s YardWhere: Neal’s Yard Covent GardenWhy You Should Go There: If you want a pizza eating challenge Favourite Thing We Ate: Anchovy, caramelised onion and olive pizza  Back in 2013, three men with a love of pizza, opened Homeslice in Neal’s Yard with the aim to feed hungry Londoners wood-fired pizza like no other.  Now in 2015 they are about to open their second venue in Fitzrovia and with a two-hour wait when we got there (and yes people were prepared to wait that long) it’s a sign that they are serving up darn good pizza. The signature pizzas […]

Galvin at Windows Review – what we thought

Galvin at Windows is one of 7 from the Galvin Restaurant Group but I’m going to take a stab in the dark and say it is the highest, located on the 28th floor of the London Hilton. Make sure to pick your floor before getting in the elevator to save having to get out half way up because you realised that the lift you’re in doesn’t have buttons inside it and isn’t going where you need it to. That’s just one pearl of wisdom I learnt at my trip to the Michelin star French restaurant, more to come so pens […]

Noir Cocktail Bar- What We Thought

Who doesn’t love cocktails? Choosing a delicious combination of flavours, watching and waiting for them to be blended into a masterpiece for you and your friends to sample. Team that up with long summer evenings, and you’re on to a winner. As we stepped inside the black doors of Noir, passed the ‘friendly but don’t mess with me’ guy on the door I noticed the sharp black leather and gold interior. The bar felt dark and intriguing, just like the 40’s film genre it shared its name with. The staff immediately looked after us and I could tell we were […]

La Suite West Hotel Review – what we thought

The uber modern La Suite West Hotel is the proud owner of a raw vegan restaurant which also boasts a summer terrace too. Now before you recoil in horror at the idea of a meatless, dairyless world, just hold your horses. Since before Christmas bonafide vegan, Head Chef Nik Heartland, has been racking his brain to come up with creative and flavourful dishes to help to introduce new options into the London vegan scene. He has spent the past few months carefully creating a brand new vegan a la carte menu, vegan salad bar menu and London’s first vegan fine […]

34 Review – What We Thought

I love London and its restaurant scene. I love that some restaurants are just for walk ins, I love that some pop-ups are all that people can talk about and I love that some restaurants are all about the extra orders. You can also read this in reverse, I don’t like that you have to queue for hours to get in and can’t reserve, I don’t like a pop-up being so crowded you could be forgiven for thinking you’re entering a game of sardines and I don’t like it when you have to order everything as extra. Sometimes you don’t […]

Jean – Jacques Review – What We Thought

Jean Jacques is a new French brasserie and wine bar, set over three floors of a Soho townhouse, whilst it might be a celebration of Jean Jacques Rousseau., it actually comes from a Russian restaurant group. There’s a cosy cocktail bar in the basement, handy for any Ronnie Scott’s overspill, and a lovely little roof terrace on the first floor, for alfresco dining and drinking. The menu features all the French classics that you’d expect from a Russian restaurant – steak tartare, onion soup, poussin and so on. We started with the snails, which were fine, a little under-salted, and […]

SUDA review – what we thought

Thai restaurant, SUDA has a new sharing menu filled with lots of small plates, ideal for sharing or for those who have trouble deciding what to order…or in the rare case you aren’t familiar with Thai food this is an easy way to introduce yourself to it. It was a rare warm day in London over the weekend so we sat by the open doors and got cracking on the delicious cocktail menu with favourites like Lady Suda, a mix of strawberry, watermelon, black pepper, lemon juice with Bombay gin & St.Germain elderflower liquer.Just as the heat and alcohol was […]

The Union Jag Experience at The Athenaeum Hotel & Apartments – What We Thought

Ask anyone if spending a night at a top London hotel and then driving around in a classic British car sounds like an ideal couple of days and we think you’d be hard pressed to find someone who would disagree. This is why we were super excited to review the Union Jag Experience at The Athenaeum Hotel & Apartments. When we first arrived at the hotel, the staff were very helpful and cheerful – grumpy receptionists are never fun to deal with, so this was a pleasant surprise. The reception area was grand and opulent, yet still managed to feel […]

Circus Review – What We Thought

When we heard that Circus had been given a refurbishment we were expecting something drastic, however the changes are more subtle than that. Charlotte McCarthy of Lot London (formerly of Tom Dixon) has come back to oversee the design (she’s previously been commissioned for the Dock Kitchen and rooftop bar and spa at the Mondrian Sea Containers Hotel. The room has been completely opened up providing more space and they’ve extended the bar too  along with new cocktails. For a cocktail that is as impressive and dramatic as it is delicious go for the Beast of Byakko which is completely […]
