Polo Bar Review – What We Thought

Sitting on Conduit Street, The Westbury Hotel’s Polo Bar certainly knows a thing or two about cocktails having won bar of the year in the London 2014 Lifestyle Awards, so when I needed somewhere to meet a friend for drinks I thought I’d go and see if it did live up to its accolade.   Despite...

Circus Review – What We Thought

When we heard that Circus had been given a refurbishment we were expecting something drastic, however the changes are more subtle than that. Charlotte McCarthy of Lot London (formerly of Tom Dixon) has come back to oversee the design (she’s previously been commissioned for the Dock Kitchen and...

Voga at Coq d’Argent Review – What We Thought

It was chucking it down with rain, it felt like the midst of winter and yet still about 20 girls made it to Coq d’Argent for their monthly Voga sessions and I was one of them. Yes I had hauled myself out of bed on a Sunday morning, battled the elements and the Sunday district line to reach the...

We all know the quote about when a man is tired of London he is tired of life and yes Samuel Johnson probably was on to something, but also maybe he was just tired of the teeming hordes, the less than fresh air and the all too familiar sound of ‘We’re just being held at a red light and will be...

Brew Review – What We Thought

It’s always best to address the elephant in the room from the very start. Brew. The name that conjures up images of coffee, cake and dare I say, cyclists.   Upon arrival I glanced at the menu with caution. Was I going to find a Lance Armstrong apple sauce?Or a Eddy Merckx mezze? I hoped not.

Portrait Restaurant Review – What We Thought

What: Audrey Hepburn inspired menu Where: The Portrait Gallery  Why you should go there:   Favourite thing we ate: Veal and ricotta meatballs  If there is one thing I would like to have more of it would be poise. I have about as much grace as small baby elephant which in other words is zero.
