The Playboy Club’s Pink Tea

Along with Halloween and the start of the miserable weather, October is all about raising awareness and detoxing, so along with Stoptober (quitting smoking) and Sober for October (raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support) October is all about getting people to think and recognise the signs of breast cancer. Which is why The Playboy Club has transformed their iconic afternoon tea served in the Salvatore Bar to The Pink Afternoon Tea, with £1 from every tea being donated to Against Breast Cancer and as 'On Wednesdays, we wear  pink', or in this case eat, we headed over to check it […]

The Jones Family Project review – what we thought

The hustle and bustle of London felt a world away when we arrived at The Jones Family Project in Shoreditch. With trees decorated with fairy lights forming the center- piece of tables, and a New York style long bar that would be Chuck Bass’ dream, the restaurant which has been set up by a group of friends lives up to its independent ethos, adding something different to your usual dining experience. Having acclimatized ourselves to our surroundings, we were seated in an intimate booth in the bar area upstairs. Despite being situated away from the main restaurant, this had a […]

Royal China Review

The award-winning Royal China group currently has six restaurants across London as well as four more internationally in Singapore, Hong Kong, Bangkok and Dubai. And although not lucky enough to travel overseas, we did get to go check out one of their London locations. Situated in the heart of Canary Wharf, beside the ferry pier, sits their Canary Riverside restaurant. It’s certainly a picturesque setting for a dinner date; looking out across the river at the capital’s iconic skyline and the terraced seating would be perfect for a warm summer’s evening. However the current, somewhat temperamental, weather meant we were […]

House of Ho Rock’n’Roll Brunch

Situated in the heart of Soho is House of Ho, a modern Vietnamese restaurant, that has recently launched 'Bobby's Rock 'n' Roll Brunch' thusly named after head-chef Bobby Chinn. The brunch kicks off in rock’n’roll style with a Lychee Bellini and edamame beans and crackers for the table. Guests are invited to choose from the £29 or £36 (per person) option, the latter offers extra dishes like the Shaking Beef, which was comparable to grilled peppery chunks of steak and was delicious. The £36 menu also includes dessert and cocktails like the Yum Rum Dragon, a tropically decorated concoction of […]

The Meat Co Review

As you may have guessed from the name, The Meat Co is a restaurant whose expertise lies in all things carnivore friendly with an impressive menu of steaks, ribs and burgers. Before any vegetarians reading recoil in horror, it’s not all doom and gloom though as the talent in the kitchen have waved their creative magic to all aspects of the menu. Situated in the popular shopping district by Shepherd’s bush station, the South African restaurant covers two floors and an outside terrace but the best place to dine for ambience is upstairs with the glassed off open plan kitchen. […]

Almeida: Review

When it comes to restaurants you think most things have already been covered, we’ve had dining in the dark, mystery menus, eating whilst precariously perched in the sky and way underground, but the Almeida over in Islington have created something brand spanking new; they have done away with the wine list, making them the first restaurant in London to do so. Instead they have a wine wall, where diners can go up and choose their wine based on the tasting notes or they can leave it up to the sommelier to make the choices based on what they are eating […]
