Pied à Terre for dinner, The Providores for dessert and Cicchetti for the atmosphere (and the squid ink risotto). Oh, and Pelder in Peckham for the morning after – their brunch is stonkingly good.

Favourite bar in London?
When I want to pretend that I’m a sophisticated urbanite, it’s Bar Termini. When I want to slum it on a smattering of cushions, it’s the incomparable Cafe Cairo.

Your London hidden gem:
Head to the Piccadilly branch of Waterstones – bear with me – and sneak up to the fifth floor. You’ll find a decent bar, heaps of books and views of Big Ben.

Favourite London hotel?
Staying at Terence Conran’s Boundary Hotel in Shoreditch was like a sped-up MA in Design – a unique place.

Favourite cocktail?
The humble pint of bitter. But an Old Fashioned does the trick, too.
