The New French Joint Opening In Primrose Hill

Ferme the front door! There’s a new restaurant coming to Primrose Hill and we’re kinda excited about it. Step forward La Ferme (the farm)! Opened initially as a market stall and then a Farringdon restaurant by a precociously young 20-year-old François Guerin in 2012, La Ferme is a medley of French seasonal cooking and ingredients. The young chef has teamed up with his step brother Guillaume Dunos who will Head Chef the new venture. Dunos has worked in restaurants including Paris’s Gouquets, Prince de Galles and Park Hyatt Paris-Vendôme so should be well suited to this new venture. And what […]

Gilly’s Fry Bar – Northern Chippy Meets Japanese Tempura

Kill us now, it’s never going to get any better than this: chip shop fish and chips, curry sauce and cocktails. Gilly’s Fry Bar arrives in Finsbury Park this week and it promises to be a fantastic, if unlikely, combo of chippy and highball cocktails with an Asian twist. Modelled on restauranteur Neil Gill’s memories of Tyneside chip shops, the restaurant will feature classics like cod and scraps but fused with the delicate art of Japanese tempura cooking. Running with the Northern obsession with dousing chips with curry sauce Gill has devised a menu combining the traditional katsu curry with […]

Gabeto Comes to Camden

When it comes to food, Camden Market is not short of places to eat, but the team behind its latest restaurant are hoping that they will be able to rival the best that Shoreditch and Fitzrovia has to offer. Opening on the 6th July in one of the Victorian stable blocks, Gabeto (which is means ‘our house’ in Spanish) will see, former Chiltern Firehouse chef, Lee Andrews heading up the kitchen to create a menu that brings together British ingredients with Latin flavours. Tacos, rare-breed steaks and small plates including the likes of beetroot-cured salmon and chorizo Scotch eggs will make […]

The Return of The Clifton

Once the haunt of King Edward VII and his mistress, Lillie Langtry, The Clifton in St John’s Wood is reopening next week after its unexpected closure in 2013. We can’t report that there’ll be any royals necessarily, but we can tell you that it sounds like it’s going to be cracking. Back in 2007, brothers Ben and Ed Robson started running the first pub they ever drank in, The Horseshoe in Hampstead, nonchalant, this was followed by their successful Prosecco and schnitzel bar, Boopshi’s in Fitzrovia and now, they are going to be giving The Clifton a new lease of […]

Islington’s New Italian: Radici

Spring has sprung and with it comes a whole new set of restaurants, including Radici, a new Italian trattoria coming to Islington and opening next week. It’s part of the D & D London Group (Aster, Bluebird, Avenue et al) and will be the work of Francesco Mazzei, Chef Patron of Sartoria who will be cooking up a menu that that reflects his Calabrian heritage – Radici after all does mean roots. You’ll also find dishes from the Southern Italian areas of Campania, Basilicata, Puglia, Sicily and Sardinia. The menu will be ever-evolving but we know that it’s going to include […]

Maple & King’s Opens in St Pancras Square

Back in 2013, Adria Wu left her job as an engineer to train as a chef, in 2015 she opened Maple & Fitz in Fitzrovia and now, two years later, she is opening Maple & King’s in St Pancras Square – it’s going to be bigger and have even more food. Westerns Laundry Opens in LoHo

2014 was the year that Stoke Newington welcomed Primeur, and now Jeremie Cometto-Lingenheim and David Gingell are back with their next restaurant in Lower Holloway…or as we like to call it, LoHo. To get to Westerns Laundry you’ll need to pass through a feather blade fence and entry code gate, before crossing the forecourt, planted with Himalayan birch trees and dotted with benches, designed and made by Jeremie. Lining the way will be cobbles which once lined the gangway at King’s Cross Station, they’ll lead you right up to the floor to ceiling crittall doors – if you’re not clued up […]
