Pomona’s: California Comes to Notting Hill

What do Notting Hill and L.A have in common? You might have said yoga, you might think pressed juices and whilst you’re right, in this case you’re wrong, because the answer we were looking for is Pomona’s. A city in L.A and now an all-day restaurant and bar coming to Hereford Road on Monday.

Executive Chef Gareth Sanderson (The Thomas Lord, Druskos Namai Sallt House and Le Butcher Group) has created a menu based on his travels around America’s West Coast. Dishes will include steak tartare, shredded kimchi and lardo toast; sweet potato toast, avocado, labneh, lime and cilantro gremolata, house pastrami cured gravadlax bagels with herbed cream cheese; Kumototo/Blue Point oysters, cocktail sauce, horseradish, mignonette, crispy pork belly, mojo de ajo, smoked polenta and winter leaf salad and for pudding, caramel croissant and prune pie with crème Anglais.

If you want cocktails, which of course you will, then the bar is headed up by Kestutis Stirba (former Head Bartender at Gordon Ramsey Restaurants, The Sanderson Hotel and The Electric) and he’s promising a cutting-edge list of Californian-inspired drinks.

With sunny, bright colours, the interior is the work of Sundae Design Studio who are taking inspiration from David Hockney’s 1970s Malibu period. There is also a conservatory and garden but you’ll probably want to wait until next year to sit there… otherwise it’ll be even more obvious that you’re in chilly London and not sunny LA.

To celebrate the opening they’re offering 50% off food until the end of Sunday 11th December, to book and for more details call 0207 229 1503

Pomona: Opens 12th December, 47 Hereford Road, Notting Hill, W2 5AH, www.pomonas.co.uk
