If you made it one of your New Year’s resolution to eat less meat, drink less alcohol, have less sugar, less wheat, go vegan or all of them (check you out) then we have the restaurant for you: Redemption.
Following on from the success of the first Redemption restaurant which opened last year in Notting Hill, the second restaurant is opening in Shoreditch, which is said to be Redemption’s spiritual home ever since their initial pop-ups proved a massive hit in east London back in 2013.
The brain child of Catherine Salway (ex-Virgin Group Brand Director) and Executive Chef Andrea Waters (an experience restaurateur, vegan and raw chef and nutrition expert) Redemption’s motto is ‘spoil yourself without spoiling yourself’ which is something we can all get on board with; whilst their ethos is in caring for the planet, animals and ourselves. Which is why all the dishes are sugar-free, wheat-free, vegan and the cocktails are all non- alcoholic, but most importantly delicious, proving that things don’t always have to be sugar and cream laden to taste good.
If you need a bit of a kick start with ridding your body of cheese and other Christmas indulgences then throughout January they are offering an innovative detox menu across both sites, so all you have to do is turn up and eat. Dishes including kelp noodle and lemongrass laksa; roasted pumpkin coated in cashew and gamasio with avocado, lemon, garlic with horseradish guacamole and beetroot spaghetti with kale and almond pesto.
January is also Veganuary month if you needed any other reason to go…
Redemption: Opens 6th January, 320 Old Street, London, EC1V 9DR, www.redemptionbar.co.uk
