Flora, Fauna and Phileas Fogg: House of Botanicals Opens in Fitzrovia

The fictional home of the old globe-trotter (lucky devil), the Mr Fogg’s brand is a miscellaneous mad, paraphernalia hanging from the ceiling force to be reckoned with. Now, there’s a new eccentric location in town, to add to the wholesome list, which includes Mr Fogg’s Residence, Mr Fogg’s Gin Parlour and Mr Fogg’s Tavern.

Introducing Mr Fogg’s House of Botanicals in Fitzrovia, a mish mash of plants and herbs and spices thrown together for guests to enjoy in sensory journey form. Yep, that’s right, much like old Phileas himself, you’ll be perusing the plant landscape, having a sniff and a stare at botanicals brought home by Fogg on his Around the World in 80 Days voyage.

The latest project from Charlie Gilkes and Duncan Stirling’s Inception Group, the location will be alive with whisperings of natural light and accentuated with plants, plants and more plants. Unsurprising, given the name? Both floors will see guests lift cocktails to their lips with drinks inspired by Mr Fogg’s botanical fancies; luscious leaves, spices and Amazonian plants. You’ll be as daring as Fogg if you feast on these drinks.

Upstairs, it’s all aboard the immersion train as guests try the Secret Language of Flowers Menu, which is inspired by the Victorian tradition of expressing secret emotions through the giving of certain flowers. Wow, sounds like a much nicer way to woo a lady than the “doing bits” happenings on a certain 9pm ITV2 show…

Inside the Glass House will be experimental Kilner jar concoctions, with drinks including Flight of the Hummingbird with Bacardi Carta Blanca, Aperol, raspberry, spiced pineapple, celery, citrus and egg white (so not shy on the ingredients then!) and Cherry Blossom with Star of Bombay gin, Evangelista Ratafia, almond, pineapple, falernum, lime and Sakura tea foam.

There will also be food aplenty to scoff on, from Confit chicken & pine nut croquettes with roasted chicken gravy and chives to sweet whipped honey butter and rosemary honeycomb or Drunken Pineapple Truffles topped with coconut.

Looks like it’s time for another adventure!

Mr Fogg’s House of Botanicals opens at 48 Newman Street, Fitzrovia, W1T 1QQ on the 26th of July
