If you’re passing through St James today then you might notice something new; a new face in the neighbourhood, because today sees the opening of 45 Jermyn St.
The 113 cover restaurant will be open from breakfast right though to their 10pm late supper menu and will be serving up a modern London cuisine with old favourites alongside new dishes. At breakfast you’ll find British classics such as marmite crumpets, but more unusually they’ll be served with fried eggs; or for London’s health conscious bulgar wheat with raw vegetables and crème fraiche. Providing for our love of food and our more adventurous side they’ll be octopus with braised borlotti beans and chorizo for lunch and at supper dishes such as snails with gorgonzola and garlic butter will feature on the menu.
For those wanting something a little more refined, a caviar trolley will be serving the likes of Iranian Beluga 000 caviar with toast, baked new potatoes, blinis and scrambled egg. Or if you’re peckish after the theatre or drinks after work then their evening menu served from 10pm is what you need. Dishes are set to include Monkfish Curry and scrambling prawns.
Martin Brudnzki Design is in charge of the interior and they are looking to the bygone golden era of glamour for inspiration. It’ll be sophisticated, yet casual. Burnt Orange leather banquettes will sit alongside intimate booths and counter dining. It’s at the marble bar that you’ll find their eccentric cocktail list inspired by the soda jerks and pharmacists from London’s first soda fountain that was originally housed on site. Two soda fountains will be used to create bespoke sodas and adult ice-cream sodas, as well as Rickies and cocktails.
