If you want a little taste of Spain but don’t have time to just jet off and leave London behind (and who does?) then panic not, because Aqua Nueva is about to reopen in time for summer, hurrah! The Spanish restaurant on Regent Street has been given a complete redesign and new menu and will be open again on the 15th June.
Robert Angell has over seen the interior and has incorporated different aspects of Spanish culture in the design. A black and white mosaic floor gives way to a copper coloured vaulted ceiling, reminiscent of the renowned sherry casks of Jerez; whilst over the bar hangs a bespoke twisted metal and gold leaf chandelier which emulates the swirling horn of Spanish bulls.
Head Chef Alberto Hernandez has created the new menu with the modern diner in mind. What that really means is he has created small plates of Spanish dishes which are perfect for when you can’t decide what you want and don’t want to get food envy. Dishes include marinated crab salad with green apple, red mullet with aioli and black ink rice parcels, deep fried Monte Enebro cheese, confit beetroot liquorice and confit crispy pork and langoustines.
‘Inspired by Spain’ cocktails have been created by Bar Manager Luca Missaglia which will be served in the central bar, below that beautiful chandelier. Finish the week with a Mi Casa Es Su Casa, a blend of Belvedere Vodka, Lemon, Dry Sherry, Orgeat, Pineapple and Black Pepper or round off Monday with one of the Gin Tonica cocktails which capture Spain’s G&T culture and will be served exclusively on the terrace.
Forget Spain – Regent Street is where you need to head this summer.
