Bandol Opens

Tuesdays always seem a bit pointless, they’re not the start of the week, not the middle,  not Thursday which is the new Friday, not Friday itself and not the weekend. But not this Tuesday, oh no, today is the opening of Bandol on Hollywood Road.

Run by husband and wife Syliva Kontek and Vittoria Monge, Bandol will bring a taste of Nicoise and Provencal to Chelsea in the form of sharing plates. The menu is designed by Zsolt Ferencz and will include the likes of Petits Farcis Nicoise filled with Fois Gras, Yellowtail Carpaccaio and Bandol bouillabaisse with red mullet, gurnard, tiger prawns and mussels. For pudding you can expect the likes of fig tart or lavender and thyme ice cream. Of course there will be plenty wine,  which will be predominately French and focusing on the South of France; created by Sylvia it will be a homage to her first restaurant Margaux.

Kinnersley Kent Designs are in charge of the interior and they’re looking to the Provence and the French Riviera for inspiration. A long copper- topped bar will sit beneath blue, golden and smoked glass pendants which will hang over it and will be interspersed with olive and clementine trees. They’ll be wooden bar stools, exposed beam plaster and white washed brick walls in the bar and behind a linen curtain will sit the restaurant. Zinc tables, white wishbone chairs with wooden rope seats will surround a huge olive tree which will stand in the centre and will be illuminated with lanterns. They haven’t  just gone for wallpaper either, nope, the backdrop to  the restaurant will be a living wall, filled with ivy, ferns and vines.  If you’re looking to host an event there then there will be two private dining rooms adorned with copper ceilings and screened with copper mesh and antique Champagne riddling racks.

 Now, don’t let your Tuesday be average, go out and treat your self, book a table at Bandol.
