Beef & Brew: A Modern Steak House

Steak and beer it’s a match made in drink and food heaven, isn’t it? Jessica Simmons and Daniel Nathan agree anyway as they are opening Beef & Brew this month in Kentish Town.

A modern interpretation of a traditional steak house, they are focusing on good quality, affordable, unpretentious steaks and so are embracing the rumps, flat irons and onglet cuts.  These will be found on the menu alongside other beef dishes including salt brisket with leeks and mustard cream, short ribs will make up the filling in a gravy soaked and cheese covered classic French Dip Bun which sounds like the absolute dream doesn’t it?

Sides range from classics to the more innovative with the likes of lemonade soaked aubergine chips and duck heats with devilled mayonnaise appearing on the menu. There are also vegetarian dishes available, although it would seem a waste going to somewhere with beef in the name and not having beef wouldn’t it?

The ‘brew’ half of the name refers to the fact that they will be serving up beer and a lot of it. Head Chef Jessica Simmons will be adding it to the dishes, with inspiration coming from the time she spent setting up the kitchens at London Fields Brewery. There’ll be beers from local brewers Fourpure Pils as well as beer flights and beer and food pairings – of course there will also be cocktails and wine too.
