Friday will see the opening of Beyond London, Kensington’s first lounge to offer gourmet dining, cocktails and table bottle service.
The guys behind it are Executive Chef Ian Pengelley, who comes from Harrod’s Chai Wu and is known for his Pan-Asian cooking and Andy Mil the highly awarded mixologist who recently opened The Cocktail Trading Company, so you’re in safe hands. Their aim? To provide the best in food and drinks to their customers, who want the great service and personal touches usually found in Mayfair’s high-end nightclubs.
Naturally the cuisine will be Pan –Asian in the form of small plates and will use a mix of textures, smells and challenging conventional cooking. Dishes to look out for are seabass and gold flake steamed dumplings, mixed bubbling and smoking sashimi and green tea chocolate fondant.
Not sticking to your usual cocktail list, Andy will be creating a menu that is a fluid impressionist account of the history of earth – it may sound confusing but stick with us. Taking inspiration from the Big Bang, the creation of the Moon and periods of man, guests can experience drinks such as the Ra! And it is an experience, not just a drink, the table will be enveloped in orange oil and hydrogen air and the cocktail is ignited at the table, which leaves a gold-shimmering drink representing the birth of the sun. Impressive, eh?
