Last year Michelin starred chef Heinz Beck took up residency alongside drinks maestro Salvatore Calabrese at Brown’s hotel. Well, now he’s returning not just for a residency or a pop-up but to launch a whole new restaurant: Beck at Brown’s.
Opening on the 16th April, the new restaurant will serve up classic Italian dishes using British seasonal ingredients. To start will be dressed crab with grilled Romain lettuce and wild herbs followed by the likes of spaghetti cacao e pepe with lime-marinated langoustine; Aged Rhug estate striploin with truffle mash and rosemary sauce; red mullet ‘sandwich’ with black olive and tarragon and traditional puddings such as tiramisu affogato and Sorrento lemon cheesecake.
The space has also undergone a complete redesign led by Olga Polizzi, Rocco Forte Hotels’ director of designer. Now with its own entrance it’s inspired by both the Italian landscape and the spirit of Mayfair. They’ve kept the 1900’s oak panelling but they’ve transformed the space into a bright, botanical utopia with greens, turquoises, brass accents, bespoke chandeliers and specially commission wallpaper. Divided by ornamental bronze screens, the restaurant is divided into three areas: a bar, dining room and a more private dining space.
