A new restaurant and café is opening in the original walled kitchen garden at Pitzhanger Manor, the country retreat of acclaimed British architect Sir John Soane built by him to entertain friends in 1800. Founder of catering company Social Pantry Alex Head is behind the exciting venture.
Soane’s Kitchen has made an effort to reflect Soane’s love for entertainment in the decor of the café by creating an informal space with natural light and use of the gorgeous surrounding landscape. The spot will offer a quiet sanctuary in the middle of the city and restore an iconic London landmark.
The menu is meant to be both light and comforting, with rotations dependent on seasonal offerings. Highlights include burrata with broad beans and radish and babette steak with carrot top pesto, but the real treat is the bottomless Sunday brunch menu. Stop by for summer pea on toast with feta and poached egg or ginger pig fry up, all made with as much on-site-grown produce as possible.
The restaurant can accommodate private dining, has a grab and go café and an events space available for rent. Charitable events such as Social Suppers, an event started by Social Pantry that brings together top chefs to cook good food for a good cause, will continue at Soane’s Kitchen, with a monthly guest chef series beginning in August.
Soane’s Kitchen is opening in July 2018 at Pitzhanger Manor, Walpole Park, Ealing, W5 5EQ.
