Covent Garden has had its foodie revolution, Tooting has been named by Lonely Planet as one of the top 10 coolest neighbourhoods in the world and now it seems as if White City is going to be the next London hotspot.
Soho House has announced that they will be taking over the former BBC Television Centre, Bluebird is opening its second site there this winter and now cake connoisseur, Bea Vo, has chosen White City as the site for her new bakery Butterscotch.
You’re more likely to know Bea Vo as the founder of Bea’s of Bloomsbury, the bakery that for the last ten years has answered our sugar dreams with the likes of killer brownies, Mars Bar cupcakes and duffins (a hybrid of a muffin and doughnut). The new bakery opens after a successful pop-up at Old Street station and is based on the ground floor of the Westworks development. Drawing on Bea’s American heritage, the bakery will sell the likes of Buckeye Brownies, Snickerdoodle cookies, Snicker fudge and key lime pie cupcakes. You’ll also find double stuffed croissants, Cinnamon Buns and Madeleines, as well as freshly brewed coffee from speciality roasters Squaremile and turmeric and charcoal lattes.
If you can’t face a brownie for breakfast (safe to say we can), then you’ll find a porridge bar. This isn’t just your average porridge with honey or berries, oh no, this is much more than that. You’ll find five bases including a five-grain porridge made with house-made organic coconut milk and sixty toppings including fig bourbon compote and sea salted caramel sauce. It’s going to make any porridge, you’ve had up until now seem rather boring.
If our waist lines were about to suffer with the amount of mince pies we’re soon to be consuming, now with Snickerdoodle cookies too we stand no chance.
