The Handbook
The Handbook

Life is short, you only live once, treat every day like it’s your last– we can give you all the Instagram quotes you like, but what it all boils down to really is: do what makes you happy. You know what makes us happy? Pudding.

What we would really like to see is more restaurants dedicated to the sweeter things in life and if you do too then read on, because The Café at Café Royal will be opening daily as a dessert restaurant between 6pm and 10.30pm. So if you have had a tough day at work, you want to commiserate or maybe celebrate, forget cocktails, start downing the puddings… (yes all the sugar but no hangover = winning).

Created by Executive Pastry Chef, Sarah Barber the menu will feature savoury bites to begin with, before moving on to the puddings. The Sarah in Wonderland menu will feature five courses including goat’s cheese, wild honey and beetroot snow before moving onto Alice in Wonderland inspired desserts such as the Queen of Hearts (raspberries, Champagne and roses); Mad Hatter (BFG, kirsch and cherries) and Eat Me, Drink Me (Snickers, chocolate malt shake). Bringing a sense of nostalgia to the table will be the Childhood Menu and the Pick ‘n’ Mix menu which will have the likes of rhubarb and custard and Jaffa Cakes puddings and will allow you to choose four courses from the menu.

You’ll also be able to order wine flights with each menu such as pairing a classic dessert wine like Château Roumieu, Sauternes with the Eat Me, Drink Me or Henriques y Henriques madeira with the Jaffa Cake.

If you need a sugar fix during the day then Pâtisserie will offer petit gateaux such as raspberry rose spheres, pistachio and apricot mille feuille and strawberry lemon candy canes or bigger treats including strawberry crispy mousses with almond sponge and Black Forest gâteau with chocolate mushrooms.

With its golden Siena marble interior, The Café emulates the grand café culture of Europe; a grand setting for a grand menu.
