Next week sees the RHS Chelsea Flower Show return to SW3 once more, but it won’t just be the gardens and streets of Chelsea that are adorned with flowers, all over the capital the show will be being celebrated. Whether you indulge in floral ice cream in Soho (we are set to have this heat wave…at some point),  dine on edible flowers in the Shard or head to Green Park to listen to top gardeners whilst sipping Champagne, here are some of the best events taking place across London to celebrate the Chelsea Flower Show: 

Flowering Arranging Masterclass at The Ampersand

Alongside their flower stall pop-up and their floral inspired afternoon tea, The Ampersand will also be hosting as a flower arranging master class. On the 20th May, Ricky Paul owner of Ricky Paul Flowers will be showing guests how to create stunning bouquets, whilst they sip Champagne and nibble on the afternoon tea which includes green tea and jasmine blossom mousse in a ginger bread garden. Living Wall Talk at The Athenaeum 

The living wall at the Athenaeum beautiful, iconic and hard to miss, it was one of the first in London and was designed, created and inspired by Patrick Blanc. So to encourage budding gardeners and landscapers to make the most of their space, The Athenaeum will be hosting a talk on Tuesday 20th May with renowned garden designer, Daniel Bell to teach us all how to cherish the green spaces in London. The evening will include canapés and a gin cocktails inspired by the botanicals of the Living Wall. Tuesday 20th May

Secret Garden at Bibendum

Stumble down a pathway of greenery and floral arches and into South Kensington restaurant, Bibendum. Once inside, dine in a haven of flowers and foliage, as Bibendum have created their own secret garden. Head Chef, Matthew Harris has created a menu to match including iced lavender parfait with strawberries and The Bibendum Lavender Fizz cocktail, with Prosecco, lavender syrup and lime juice will be perfect for toasting the event.

Floral Ice Cream at Gelupo

We all know flowers are pretty but did you ever think hmm that looks so good I could eat it? Well now our aesthetically pleasing pot dwellers have been turned into icy treats thanks to chef Jacob Kenedy at artisanal gelateria, Gelupo. They will be serving a variety of floral ice creams including the limited edition Petunias, pansies, roses or a bespoke vanilla and lavender flavour.

Miniature Edible Garden at Umu  

Ever wished you were Alice in Wonderland, drinking the potion to make you a giant? Of course, that was the childhood dream right? Well we might not be able to make you a giant, but Head Chef, Yoshinori Ishii, of Japanese restaurant UMU, can make everything miniature as they have created a teeny tiny edible garden complete with cherry blossom infused Sake poured from a watering can, edible earth and a flower crumble. Too sweet.

Feast of Flowers at Pont.  St

Enjoy a 3 course ‘feast of flowers’ at Pont St where head chef Sophie Michell has created the flower inspired menu plus an edible flower cocktail. Guests even get to take home a goody bag of floral treats including recipe cards and treats. Available 19th -24th May

Chelsea Flower Show  Afternoon Tea at The Dorchester

The iconic Dorchester hotel is going all out to treat you with a week of Chelsea Flower Show afternoon teas, hurrah! They’ve teamed up with Champagne Laurent-Perrier and the afternoon tea will include a rhubarb and acacia honey financier with rose flower cream  and strawberry, lemon and verbena layered cake. These cakes will be served with a selection of finger sandwiches and scones complemented by Grand Siècle by Laurent-Perrier. 19th -25th May

Floral Cocktails at Honky Tonk

 Cocktails, the remedy for a long day spent at the show or if you’ve missed out on tickets, then the office.  So trot on over to Honky Tonk Chelsea, because the guys have created a new floral cocktail full of flower power: The Madison Square Garden, featuring bulldog gin and elderflower martini. Hungry ? Then there is also a heavenly summer salad featuring edible flowers! 20th – 24th May

Edible Flowers at Aqua Shard

High above London, Aqua Shard’s Head Chef Anthony Garlando’s has created a British menu using floral ingredients in recognition of the show,  with a selection of dishes including beetroot cured Loch Duart salmon with aromatic tea jelly, trout roe and nasturtium flowers. Edible flowers, sounds pretty good to us! 20th 24th May

Sipsmith Supper Club at The Henry Root

So food is more your thing that flowers? Or you are looking to continue the celebrations after the show has finished? Then head over to Chelsea’s much loved bistro, The Henry Root who will be hosting a special supper club on Thursday 22nd May with Sipsmith gin. With sparkling floral Sipsmith Summer Cup cocktails, a talk about the history of Sipsmith and a botanical inspired feast including dishes such as smoked duck breasts with juniper sauce, this sounds like a blooming marvellous supper club – sorry we had to.
