Wandsworth Town is home to The Handbook HQ, England rugby players, yummy mummies, brilliant coffee and now the arrival of two new restaurants: Meatup, a bbq restaurant opening in June, and Chit Chaat Chai – an Indian street food restaurant which arrives today.
The story starts with founders, Tania and Dhruv, not being able to find a good Bhel Poori. They wanted Indian food full of flavour and texture, the sort only found on a stall on the street – chaat. So, taking things into their own hands, they trawled the shops for the best ingredients, trialling out dishes on their friends and family before swapping corporate jobs for sell out supper clubs and stalls at food markets. And now they’ve founded a permanent home in Wandsworth Town.
The restaurant will be covered in bright hand-painted murals and vintage travel posters of India, whilst at the centre of the restaurant will stand a 2 metre long cocktail and chai bar, which will serve up Indian inspired cocktails and mocktails. Spices will be used to give classic cocktails Indian twists such as Mystery in the Dark – which will see turmeric and fig infused with Gosling Dark rum and finished off with an orange twist – think of it like an Indian version of an Old Fashioned. Or for a more delicate taste the Softly, Subtly, Spicy – a martini that uses their own two day infused Chai spiced vodka.
So that’s the Chit Chaat of Wandsworth Town for you!
Between the 27th April – 5th May there’ll be 50% off all Chaats!
