Christmas, ah the season of endless parties and it is almost upon us. London has a huge range of venues offering brilliant packages and events spaces so that the days where office parties involved tinny music and limp sausage rolls are long gone.  When it comes to Christmas day itself if the thought of standing infront of an oven for hours is too much to bear then why not head out to one of London's many restaurants for a truly lavish lunch? In the first of our three Christmas pieces we have chosen some of our favourite venues for Christmas parties and the first of our Christmas menus!

Christmas Parties and Packages

As much as you think your rendition of ‘I Will Survive’ will impress everyone at the office Christmas party, why not leave it to the professionals by holding your Christmas party at Circus in Covent Garden. In their own words they’ll organise a humdinger of an event for you with beautiful food, beautiful drinks and crazy cabaret.

 City Golf

For a fun and unique Christmas party, head to City Golf! Their state-of-the-art 12-ft screens can be used to show footage or organise the sort of team-building activity that you actually want to do by taking on your directors at Wii games. You may not have got that promotion this year, but at least you can beat them at Mario Kart. Simple pleasures and all that…

Grand Connaught Rooms

Christmas can often seem like a long checklist to complete, but at least you can tick off the office party by organising it at the Grand Connaught Rooms. With space for up to 550 seated, you can host a sensational party in one of Covent Garden’s most iconic and spectacular venues.

Hampton Court Palace

For a truly enchanting Christmas party, look no further than the Hampton Court Palace. At the Hollywood Glamour-style parties, guests can enjoy a twirl on the ice rink and a private tour of the palace as well as a fabulous drinks reception, dinner and dancing!

Metropolitan By COMO London

Gone are the days of office Christmas parties where you stand around the photocopier, clinging to a plastic cup of warm wine wishing you could be anywhere else as you make small talk with that guy from accounts. Head to The Metropolitan hotel where they are putting on a series of parties throughout December: think Miami Vice, Ibiza Rocks and Bring it Back Brit Pop. The evening includes a drink on arrival, canapés and a live DJ set!

South Place Hotel

For the most relaxing Christmas, head to South Place Hotel where they have got everything sorted. Champagne on arrival? Check! Free films and cosy fireplaces? Check! Giant bathtubs, steam rooms and saunas? Check! There are two packages to choose from: North Pole at South Place or the Michelin Star and Mistletoe, where you can enjoy lunch either at 3 South Place or the Angler respectively.

Wimbledon Studios

Being slightly out of central London, the unique Wimbledon Studios are lucky when it comes to having more space. This means that they can be flexible when it comes to Christmas parties – offering everything from lavish bespoke private parties to more corporate office parties. If you want a big bash, Wimbledon Studios is the place to go!

Wood's Silver Fleet

Mixing alcohol and boats might not always be the best idea – those dodgy booze cruises spring to mind! But the combination is so right when it comes to the Silver Fleet. On Friday 13th December they are hosting a shared party: The Stardust Voyage. Setting off from Savoy Pier it will include a 4-hour voyage, a 3-course meal created by Jamie Oliver’s Fabulous Feasts, a DJ and a rather wonderful offer of unlimited beer, house wine and soft drinks!

Christmas Menus

Babylon at The Roof Gardens

Over in Kensington, Babylon’s Christmas menu (which is available  from now until the 22nd December) contains both modern festive dishes, such as butternut squash soup topped with whipped crème fraiche and chives, as well as the more usual turkey wrapped in bacon. Plus if you go on a Monday or Tuesday you will be entertained by live jazz!

Beach Blanket Babylon

Whether you are over in the East or the West, you can indulge at the beautifully ornate Beach Blanket Babylon – either in Notting Hill or Shoreditch.  . Gracing their menu are dishes such as duck and chicken pate with balsamic onion compote, pan-seared cod, spinach and puy lentil, and chocolate ganache tart with Chantilly cream.

Bush Hall Dining Rooms

Over in Shepherd’s Bush, Bush Hall Dining Room’s Christmas offering has to be one of the best we’ve seen, from mussels with brandy cream and parsley to roasted wood pigeon and the delicious and decadent combination of venison and chocolate!

For those looking to escape the hassle of cooking on Christmas day, head over to the Corinthia. Their Christmas menu, which is being served in both Massimo restaurant and the Northall restaurant, includes not only traditional dishes such as turkey and Christmas pudding but also sea bass and lobster soup. Oh and it also comes with free-flowing Champagne – hurrah!

Over at Guanabara they are celebrating Christmas carnival-style! Alongside the brilliant Brazilian entertainment and all the magic and colour of the carnival they are also serving up a great Christmas menu which is inspired by their Brazilian roots. So as well as pancetta-wrapped turkey parcels and sticky toffee puddings you will also find flame-grilled chorizo cachaa served with Brazilian cheese bread and clementine!

Paradise have won us over by saying they will do the washing up on Christmas day – how can we say no to an offer like that? Their menu is looking pretty special too with thick-sliced Severn & Wye smoked salmon, shallot & parsley salad, creamed horseradish and roast fillet of halibut, cockles, kale and confit tomatoes. The question is: will they do the drying up for us too?

St Martins  Lane

Don’t think you can handle the turkey and mince pie overload for another year? Fear not: the Christmas menu at Asia de Cuba at St Martin’s Lane  is a fusion of Asian and Latino flavours. With both day and evening menus, you can choose from dishes such as Cuban coffee-crusted rib eye with Mandarin orange and gingered sherry butter with yuca mojo fries, and pan seared ahi tuna served rare with wasabi mashed potatoes, peas and cilantro chimichurri sauce.

Covent Garden comes alive at Christmas, but step out of the hustle and bustle of the crowds and head into Tuttons. Having recently had a refurbishment and employed a new Head Chef, Tutton’s Christmas menu features starters such as venison, pigeon and game terrine with piccalilli and sour dough. And for main course you can find the likes of confit duck leg, slow-braised red cabbage and sautéed Jerusalem artichokes.
