Chuck Burger: Pop-up To Permanent

We love it when a pop-up or a street food stall finds a permanent home. We can feel a little more at ease knowing that they’re going to be around more and that we don’t have to try and visit as many times as we can during their residency before they move on.

So we’re in luck then that Chuck Burger who have been at Hawker House since October are now getting their first restaurant on Commercial Street at the end of next month.  Inspired by founder Basit Nasim’s travels through America the menu has all the punch of American classics using the freshest British ingredients and it’s food to really get stuck into. Alongside the classic cheeseburger and bacon cheeseburger, Chuck’s standout signature will be the spicy Devil Burger: chuck steak patty, charred jalapenos, American cheese, grilled red onions, sriracha mayonnaise and green jalapeno sauce.

New burgers will include the Dolly Burger – a spiced lamb patty with cheese, grilled red onion, pickles, and sriracha mayo, in a sesame seed bun and the Hot-Ox made with chuck beef and slow cooked spicy oxtail chilli and if you fancy crispy buttermilk fried chicken then the Seoul Burger with kimchi slaw and Korean hot sauce is the one for you.

Sides include mac ‘n’ cheese balls, loaded fries (with homemade nacho sauce and pancetta bacon bits) and their almost award winning buffalo wings. They came second in London’s Wing Fest last year but to even get to the festival is a pretty big deal so to us they’re still winners… Finish with key lime pie or the signature Lazy Sundae.

The menu might be American inspired but you won’t find red cups and leather booths here. Instead they’ll be setting up shop in a renovated east end café, keeping the café’s tiled floors, furniture will be made from handmade reclaimed materials, seating will be a mix of wooden benches and vintage recycled chairs and stools. There is also a touch of steam punk to the look with the lighting a mix of metal tubes, chains, retro bulbs and reclaimed industrial factory lights. The team are getting creative too – all the art work that you see, including the logo will be produced by the Chuck Burger staff.

Welcome to the neighbourhood Chuck Burger.
