Just opened on Ravenscroft Street off Columbia Road, expect gourmet copper buckets of healthy(er) fried chicken prepared using the finest grade groundnut oil. Produce is sourced from a small free-range farm in Wiltshire where eggs are produced in clutches.
The menu offers a choice of half or whole buckets of fried chicken coated in peppery buttermilk or soy and garlic plus Wingit by the Dozen (in two different flavours, ‘Honey and Sesame’ and ‘Sour and Spicy’) and Love Me Tenders, soaked in lemon and parmesan or curry leaf and sesame. A selection of sides include Mother Hen stuffing, Roasted corn or Fabulously Fried Fries – twice fried in peanut oil to pack a mean crunch.
On the weekend, there’s an extensive brunch menu with dishes including Clutch it up – chilli scrambled eggs with halloumi, roast tomato and guacamole and Birdy Benedict – poached eggs with turkey bacon and Hollandaise sauce.
Drink Clutchtails (that’s cocktails) with names such as The Sour Grouse (Famous Grouse, lemon, sugar egg white and bitters) and The Cackling Goose Cosmo (Grey Goose vodka and apricot jam).
Designed by Christina Fallah, think gold restored tables, deep green surfaces and vintage pieces from Dublin. The graffiti exterior was created by graffiti artist Maser and fashion designer Gareth Pugh who will create an outdoor canopy within a secret garden for summer.
