Taking inspiration from New York speakeasy PDT (Please Don’t Tell – the one you have to enter through a phone box!) comes Dach & Sons in Hampstead, the new hot dog, craft beer and whisky joint from Fluid Movement – the guys behind behind Purl and Worship Street Whistling Shop. It’s housed in a listed building dating back to the 1800s and featuring boldly reimagined period details – with a ground floor restaurant and cocktail bar upstairs.

On ground, a low wooden bench complete with 1960s stools sits underneath the window at the front and a neon hot dog sign, created by the UK’s godfather of neon art, Chris Bracey throws further light on proceedings. Towards the rear is a whisky library housed in a vintage bakers’ rack and additional tables are framed by white brick and custom- made wallpaper depicting stacking shelves. There’s also a decked outdoor sun terrace with retractable canopy and outdoor heating.  And what better to keep those beers cold than a brightly coloured Smeg fridge.

But now for the real reason why we’re here: hot dogs and sliders – served alongside craft beers, premium whiskies and Mint Juleps.  Dach & Sons has employed a full time butcher to produce its own sausages, burgers and frankfurters on site. Drawing from the team’s scientific approach to its drinks, he will experiment with cooking techniques, employing sous-vide and flash fry finish. All produce will be locally sourced.

Upstairs on first will be dark sexy cocktail bar, Purl, serving up those signature theatrical, concoctions. Overhead is an original gold-leaf, hand-carved ceiling dating back to the 1800s and then three luxurious blue velvet banquettes peer out towards the cocktail bar and black curtained windows.

The cocktail menu features those signature forgotten classics and the strains of period-specific jazz music will emerge from an air raid siren. In addition to Dach & Sons, Fluid Movement is also launching a range of new products in collaboration with Master of Malt that will include Cream Gin, Radiation Aged Cocktails, Grenadine Syrup, Exhaustion Tonic and Chip Pan Bitters.
