Delano Marrakech

By | 5th September 2012

Is Marrakech being primed to take over from Ibiza as the jet set’s party destination of choice? Well, with the opening of the Delano Marrakech this month – a partnership between Morgans Hotel Group and Moroccan entrepreneur Ahmed Bennani and Hivernage Collection, that might just be a yes.

The new location has been designed by Jacques Garcia with an opulent interior blending precious marbles with sumptuous velvet. Ceilings in the lobby are of hand-carved wood and a central rotunda is surrounded by an intricately patterned Moroccan design. The 71 room hotel features 27 luxurious suites and 44 deluxe guest rooms. And then there’s The Pearl – a 20,000 square foot spa with subterranean mosaic pool, beauty salon and fitness centre.

Four restaurants include the French fine dining destination, Bon R, by Michelin-starred executive chef Michel Rostang and a Mediterranean Italian concept from fellow Michelin-starred chef Giancarlo Morelli, located just off the main lobby. There’s also a sushi and sake experience on the hotel’s upper deck while Galerie, located in the lobby beneath the soaring rotunda, offers a more casual café experience.

But back to the partying. Delano Marrakech's Sky Lounge boasts spectacular 360-degree views over the Red City, Medina, Agdal Gardens, imperial ramparts and the Atlas Mountains rearing beyond – the perfect spot for daytime lounging or evening cocktails. Loft, Delano's second roof top space, features those same views via a floor to ceiling glass wall and can be hired for exclusive private events. A nightclub below the lobby is set to open early next year.

Luxury boutiques on the ground floor including Louis Vuitton, La Perla and Missoni should ensure you remain dressed for the occasion even if you end up staying longer than you’d intended.
