Not a week seems to go by without another Soho House opening, so eyebrows remained entirely un-raised at the news that White City House is coming in just a fortnight’s time. Which is probably unfair, because it looks like it’s going to be a stunner and deserves way more attention than no doubt it’ll receive. And what’s more, it’s literally on the set of Blue Peter, Panorama and, um, Jim’ll’fixit. Well, nothing’s perfect, but White City House comes close…
The West London outpost of the group will boast 45 bedrooms within the original TV Centre ‘doughnut’, a members’ space including games room with a large billiards table, bar and outside terrace for eating and drinking and whatever else you fancy doing out-of-doors. There’s also (most exciting) a 10th floor rooftop swimming pool, surrounded by sun loungers and a bar. Finally a gym and East-meets-West restaurant completes the lineup. Oh, I nearly forgot: and there’s a full-on cinema in the basement.
The gym will be the largest within the Soho House group, with steam room, sauna and hammam and another swimming pool (plus juice bar), and the restaurant will look out across the iconic curve of the grade-II listed Helios building.
Were this any other club opening, there would be tremendous fanfare! If the Arts Club or the Groucho had decided to launch a new West London satellite then it’d be wall-to-wall coverage. Our piece about the new Annabel’s has been read tens of thousands of times, while the new Soho House gets a 281 word mention here. Which is a shame as it looks excellent and we should all be joining!
