London’s most exciting new restaurants tend to be places to save for a Friday night drink, smart weekend lunch or mid-week dinner but Farmer J, opening on the 9th May, will be somewhere for you to add to your working lunch hit-list. Out with the meal deals and in with hearty, filling and imaginative weekday fuel.
Farmer J will specialise in field trays; chargrilled meat, fish, vegetables and grains in what resembles a nutritionists’ dream meal. If food on a tray makes you think of McDonalds, school dinners or something in between then think again – roasted Mediterranean vegetables, Harissa chicken and kale Caesar salad are all options to add to your healthy tray, with prices starting at an affordable £6.50. Sandwich lovers haven’t been overlooked, but rather than soggy triangles of bread and half-hearted fillings, you can enjoy fillings like Flank steak, slow-cooked red onion, watercress and chimichurri and hummus, aubergine, peppers, avocado and spinach.
Designed by Executive Chef, Neil Witney, Farmer J will also offer early risers breakfast from 7.30am Monday – Friday. Baked egg shaksuka, paleo granola and cold-pressed smoothies only emphasise the fact that the food here is nutritional and healthy, with Neil having previously worked at La Bodega Negra and Mirabelle.
Whilst the focus is on takeaway food you can happily eat at your desk, a 40-cover restaurant allows for a quick break from the office. Designed by award-winning branding and interior design studio, Afroditi Krassa, you can expect the same high standard as their other projects which include Dishoom and Heston Blumenthal’s The Perfectionist’s Cafe.
A soft launch from May 3-6th offers 50% off food for the first 200 customers each day, with the official launch date set for Monday 9th May.
