Birthday wishes are in order for St Martins Lane which turned 15 this year, oh to be 15 again. And they’re celebrating with the launch of their new bar, Blind Spot.

You’d be forgiven if when you walk in you can’t seem to see it, because it’s hidden behind the façade of a boutique tea counter. Yep that’s right, during the day the counter will serve tea which guests can drink in the Den or lobby, but step through the concealed door and you’ll find yourself in a bar inspired by a hunting lodge along with the aromas and colours of exotic tea leaves.

It’s a very modern, intimate hunting lodge though, no stuffed animal heads or mounted guns. Rather you’ll find dark leather sofas, opulent lighting, muted gold tones and understated animal prints on the chairs.

Given that tea made its journey from Asia to Britain in the 1660s which has since linked the countries, and out of the 12 signature cocktails, 4 include tea syrups and flavours such as the Camilla which has Black tea vodka, Chambord, Aperol, lemon and raspberries.  The British colonial theme runs through to the bar snacks too with seared scallops and pineapple carpaccio and crispy pork belly served with candied onion and Ginger Pig Tea.

It may not be your birthday, but all birthdays are worth celebrating with a cocktail or two aren’t they?
