Grab your diary and open it straight to July because boy is there a whopper of a resto coming our way! Complete suckers for an opening with a bit of mystique surrounding it, we were charmed to hear that Moncks of Dover Street will be opening in the heart of lucky ol’ Mayfair on the 3rd of July.
Already brimming with lavish, eclectic eateries, Mayfair seems to be the most suitable of spots for an all-day brasserie with only the highest of standards. Moncks comes from the brains behind Chinese dining concept Park Chinois; a restaurant that has wowed with its 1930s-inspired glamour for quite some time. The restaurant is named after 16th century maverick Christopher Moncks, whose outrageously fun nature and unique character saw him traversing London like an excitable Jack-in-the-box, springing from Albermarle Street to Bond Street and Dover Street.
Food adopts a vibe of locality, pushing cosmopolitan tastes of the capital in amongst the brimming menu. The breakfast, as pictured above, doesn’t stray too off-piste with its offerings, instead issuing a menu of signature dishes consisting of the full vegan – a fresh take on the quintessentially British dish – and a definite highlight; the Truffled Benedict featuring artichoke and black truffle, organic poached eggs and hollandaise sauce on English muffin. Further, under the hand of Executive Chef Gennaro Vitto and Head Chef Valentino Pepe, your tastebuds will take advantage of an all-day menu with highlights that keep it oh so classic, such as Caesar salad with corn fed chicken or, for the night owls, indulge in a dinner menu with pan-fried monkfish, roasted baby leg of lamb and more.
Fettle has unrolled their design prowess in, to introduce cosy reds and wood into the space, with indoor plants and low-hanging take centre stage and eccentric pieces of art snaking around the room. The space serves as both a Martini clinking dining experience as well as an unpretentious atmosphere that reflects the positive street buzz of a London on a Friday night.
The 92-cover snug will open at the start of July at 33 Dover Street Mayfair, W1S 4NF, www.moncksbrasserie.com
