For The Good Egg founders Joel Braham, Alex Coppard and Oded Mizrachi one restaurant simply wasn’t en-oeuf! The Good Egg, recreating the Jewish cafe-culture of Montreal combined with with Tel-Aviv’s vibrant street-food scene, is coming to Kingly Court. Which, of course, is egg-cellent news!
Already known for their Stoke Newington eatery, The Good Egg is a medley of all the greatest hits of Jewish cuisine, drawing on the rich culinary traditions familiar to Jewish communities worldwide and carefully recreating Oded’s age-old family recipes.
The menu at The Good Egg will use seasonal British produce and include highlights such as a slow braised Hanukah-style brisket hash packed with caramelised onions, home-fries, Russian dressing and pickles, topped with a fried egg; the Challah French toast sandwich with white peach jam, candied pecans and crème fraiche; and Sabih, an Iraqi aubergine pita with tahini, mango amba, dak dak, pickles and zhoug. If that’s not enough to get you salivating, the in-house bakery will offer homemade, freshly baked breads and cakes, with the counter stacked with challah, hand-rolled bagels and lots and lots of babka.
If takeaway’s your bag then a selection of North American-inspired bagels, sandwiches and colourful, Middle Eastern salads will also be on offer.
The Kingly Court restaurant will also celebrate traditional cooking techniques, the dinner menu is built around the charcoal-fired Israeli Mangals, with an on-site smoker and a pita oven providing authentic tastes, smells and experiences.
Finally the cocktail list aims to bring alive the late night bar feel of Tel Aviv with Levantine staples and a nod Stateside too, such as the Spicy Horseradish Michelada with Tel Aviv Dancing Camel lager, horseradish and preserved lime; an Espresso Martini with house cardamom syrup & green pistachio and the Red Hot, house Bloody Mary with gin, pastrami spices, lemon and pickled cucumber.
