You know what they say, the smaller the better… or at least that’s what I tell myself as I stand on my tip toes to reach something from the top shelf. Yet, Gunpowder seem to be on side with my views, as their first restaurant was equipped with an intimate 20 covers. Now, a little sibling is en route in the form of Gunpowder numero duo, residing at One Tower Bridge.
Situated in Shoreditch their first restaurant was a huge success, and whilst we’re sure this is because the Indian home-style cooking was a success, it’s equally an ideal pit-stop for re-fuelling pre/post night-out before sampling Shoreditch’s boozy boltholes. Those ready to tuck in can expect the Gunpowder staples, from Chettinad pulled duck to the renowned spicy venison and vermicelli doughnut. We’re not all too sure what the latter entails but the word doughnut is mentioned so…
The new restaurant has 60 covers, allowing Head Chef Nirmal Save a little more leverage on the menu front, and has seen him curate a menu of small dishes and bar snacks including Peanut masala chaat and Bengali fish fingers. Oh, and if you’re still feeling peckish, rumour has it the new restaurant, that’s part of the new One Tower Bridge development, resides a few floors up from Custard bakery, from the same team. Sweet!
Keep korma and curry on… sorry, I just had to!
