What did the cheese say to itself when it looked in the mirror? Nothing, cheese can’t talk.
You probably thought we were going to say hallou-mi…we just like to keep you on your toes, but enough with the cheese puns, let’s get straight to the point. It seems as if our prayers really are being answered because in the same week that we told you there was going to be a restaurant dedicated to avocado, we also find out that this November, there is going to be a pop-up where halloumi will feature in every dish including in the pudding!
Brought to London by the Cyprus Tourism Organisation, the pop-up will be taking place at 100 Hoxton and will include dishes such as halloumi and cauliflower fritters with a lime pickle yoghurt; a fresh grilled courgette and halloumi salad with fennel, pine nuts, harissa, honey and lemon, crumbed halloumi fingers with a tomato chilli jam and even halloumi ice cream. Yes, you can have cheese in every course.
Wash it all down with two Cypriot inspired cocktails created by mixologist Chad Canning (formerly of Nopi), choose from a harissa Bloody Mary or a cilantro and ginger martini.
Clear your diary as it’s only going to be around from the 13th – 26th November.
The Halloumi Pop-up: Opens 13th -26th November, 100 Hoxton, 100-102 Hoxton Street, Hoxton, N1 6SG, www.100restaurants.co.uk
