The weather might be being rather temperamental at the moment but spring is definitely on the way – don’t quote us on that and with that comes a restaurant full of fresh flowers, Heist Bank.
So the name might conjure up images of a slick city cocktail bar, all steel greys and dark corners but actually it’s going to be a communal, all-day dining hangout on the edges of Paddington’s canal; the sort of place to have long lazy brunches, drop in for lunch at the weekend or throw a party. Pizzas are going to be the order of the day all made in a wood burning oven along with fresh salads, slow roasted lamb, steak and trout. For pudding get ready for a taste of nostalgia with a Mr Whippy machine serving up bowls of ice cream with grown up toppings – we’re yet to find out what they are but we’re guessing there might be some form of alcohol…
You’ll find 12 local brews and 10 classic cocktails on the menu as well as flowers everywhere, in the cocktails, filling the room and in the in-house florist, Botanique. Young British artists have also decorated pizza boxes and beer mats with floral designs.
With long bench seating, sofas to sink into and a custom made pool table by Cleón Daniel Heist Bank will have a relaxed, common room feel. A double height installation by Graffiti Artist Pure Evil will be the focal feature through the two floors and in the basement you’ll find space for 45, with karaoke, old Nintendos and self- service beer kegs it’s the perfect place for a party. Outside on the terrace there is space for a further 50.
And if that wasn’t enough you can hire bikes from outside to work off the food and explore the canals – now all we need is the sun to shine so we can make the most of hazy days at Heist Bank.
