Pablo Flack and David Waddington of Bistrotheque open Hoi Polloi today at Shoreditch’s Ace Hotel and the new venue promises a dynamic space open from 7am with late suppers served til midnight Sunday to Wednesday and 1am Thursday to Saturday. Adjacent to the restaurant, the bar at Hoi Polloi will also be open more for informal eating and drinking with power points and WiFi provided for business users.

Executive Chef is Simon Henbery with General Manager Conor Sheehan, formerly General Manager at Bistrotheque. A seasonal approach to English produce will be taken throughout. Breakfast dishes include Ricotta pancakes with shaved fennel and smoked salmon, lunch and dinner options feature Pressed lamb with Jerusalem artichoke, radish and Madeira and Halibut with seashore vegetables, samphire and mussels. Desserts of Pressed whisky pear with milk ice cream should hit the spot.

Late bites are all about sandwiches, burgers and an array of posh cheeses or if you fancy a snack there’s everything from Pig skin puffs with green sauce to Pickles onion rings with salt cod paste. Oh and they also do weekend brunch! The menu even has a back page editor in the shape of Charlie Porter. Entitled 'We Are Hoi Polloi,' it focuses on the characters, happenings and oddities of the local area.

Bistrotheque's Musical Director Xavior Roide will introduce Sunday Strings by Xavior, created just for Hoi Polloi. BEAT Magazine will be arranging some surprise musical performances at the piano and The Lovely Jonjo is providing playlists.

Accessed through Hattie Fox's Flower Shop on the high street, the 100 cover restaurant and 50 cover bar have both been designed by Flack and Waddington in collaboration with Universal Design Studio. Says Waddington: "I arrived in Shoreditch when I was 17; it's great to open our new restaurant Hoi Polloi here now."
